A need a song that will fit into a tribute for the movie ' the ninth gate' which is basically about a dude that is studying this book by the devil...through-out the movie there is like magical stuff, fire, worshiping gatherings, ancient books/drawings etc.
please help me out.
anything that might fit along those lines.

So far I was thinking silver and cold by AFI but i could probably find a song that would fit the movie better.
thanks.

From the one album that definately fits your description to a forquing T...

Seventh Son of a Seventh Son by Iron Maiden is pretty near perfect. Check the songs "Infinite Dreams", "The Clairvoyant", "Can I Play With Madness" and "The Evil That Men Do" from that album.

Other Maiden songs can include "The Wicker Man", "The Number of the Beast" and "the Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg".

Dio wrote a lot of songs on the subject of magic and it's context between good and evil. Check out "The Last In Line" or "Dream Evil" however he can be pretty cheesy.

Sisters of Mercy could work very well with the songs "Temple of Love" or "This Corrossion" if you're going for that epic intense rock sound. Imagine if Queen was heavier and Gothic then you'd have Sisters of Mercy.

Finally from music that makes demons say "This guy is just too evil for us to even want to approach." Gary Numan's too evil for evil so dark frickin' satanists fear it's menacing evil heavier than hell yet oh so melodic wrath.

EXILE

The darkest cd ever devised by a mortal. marilyn manson is a freakin' AMATEUR compared to the sheer hatred of God and everything he represents in that cd. Remember his 80's hit "cars" this cd has nothing like that. Gary Numan is one of the guys who influenced Trent Reznor.

Gary Numan's cd Exile features the following angel slaying songs..

"Dominion Day", "The Angel Wars", "Absolution" and well you'll just have to listen to it...

Here's most of "Dominion Day" and lyrically it's the least dark song on the cd...

In my darkness
I hear Jesus crying
In my darkness
I see children savage and blind
In my darkness
I see dead men kneel before the cross
In my darkness
I hear the voice of evil

Disciples, dark angels
This is dominion day
'My demons, come to me
This is dominion day'

In his darkness
I can feel the storm come
In his darkness
Holy water burns my soul
In his darkness
A grave waits for you at heaven's gate
In his darkness
I hear screams that hide the voice of God

'Come children of Eden
Pray to me on dominion day'
'Pray for your salvation
Sanctuary on dominion day'
My soul save me

In his mercy
He will bring the disease
In his mercy
He will burn the oceans
In his mercy
He will tear the sky down
In his mercy
He will make pain eternal

What makes Exile so sinister is that he sings the lyrics with such clarity and conviction as if he's convinced of the validity of every word. Singing about not just hating God but wanting to destroy every trace of God's existance.

If you're going to sing scremo songs you have to be very careful. If you sing them incorrectly you could end up doing permanent damage to your vocal chords, and will have a short lived career. If you really want to know how to do it... ask a cheerleader. Yes, I know it sounds odd, but they can tell you exactly what to do. That's how cheerleaders can yell at games and still be able to talk the next day. It all has to do about where you sing from and how you breathe. You have to yell from your stomach, or diaphram. If you scream from your throat it's gonna hurt, and that's not much fun for anyone (to listen to, or try and sing). If you're really into singing this correctly though, try and get a vocal coach! They may be able to help you out with how to sing correctly not just screamo songs, but other songs as well, and you'll be able to sing all sorts of different things before too long. Best of luck on mastering the style! Hope I was of some help.

Iron Maiden's "Fear of the Dark"
Helloween's "Halloween"
"Confutatis" from Mozart's Requiem
Spinal Tap's "Christmas with the Devil" :)

And ruling out black metal when dealing with a book that supposedly summons the devil himself? I salute your effort.

I can't think of any mystical or mysterious music at the moment.
