i just got a laptop from a garage sale and i dont kno how to connect to wireless internet. it asks for a wep key when i try

The WEP key is the Encryption password that you need in order for your laptop to connect to the wireless network that you are attempting to use. If the network is yours, then you should know the WEP, if it is not, then you must ask the person who set up the network.

Check the bottom of your wireless router. The WEP key should be there.

i think that's a wired equivilent privacy but I leave mine blank and it works fine as disabled. here is a link for more info
