People work because they believe that the ends will justify the means. People should work because it's what they want, like a job that brings endless joy and satisfaction. People should be doing what they want, and in so doing society would become a much happier thing. Freedom would no longer be about your bank account or physical features. This world would become a more laid-back and enjoyable experience if we weren't all in a rat race. On that thought, why are we in a rat race? Who put us there?

People tend to:
1. be lazy, taking the easiest choice
2. follow the majorities
3. be afraid being left alone / be different
That's what I have learned.
In fact, a person can yield over 200 ideas if he spend a day to think. Now what if you think about your job, or your income, or your muscle, your appearance?
I do gym for my own health, not for appearance (I am a male),
I also have spent weeks to think about what job I can make for myself.
Just dont be afraid to be different.
Kind regard,
Ron

With the exception of survival, the desire to meet your basic needs, I would have to say to give meaning to their lives. Mostly though I think it's inherent in our nature, I mean it is work for our body to sustain itself. Your heartbeat is work on a subconscious level, It's a part of us.

Poeple work because they have been programmed to believe that you need to in order to survive and be worthy. No, not necessary to work but people feel that they have to.
