Chameleon By G.G. Falderal
Chameleon, mocking bird of light,
Becomes stone in the grassland:
Ensuring longevity by being remote
But the light of love plays many tricks of its own,
And a bargain for safety soon becomes sellout
The grass will wither unattended - undesired
Until all that lives is cool stone
And distance becomes the con artist's new medium
The chameleon rubs with gritty surrogate shoulders
Only to realize far too late in the day,
As stone becomes dust
