No. A martyr dies (at someone else's hands) for what he or she believes in. More often than not, there is no press coverage.

A suicide is committed by a person who's only belief is that dying will alleviate his suffering... a suicidal person dies by their own hand.

In the case of terrorists, they are neither martyrs (most of them take their own lives) nor suicides (they are not their only victims). Terrorists, regardless of how they choose to die, are purely and only committing homicide. They do seek press coverage.

No suicide is a horrible thing, it's taking your own life. Martydom is standing up for what you believe in (Christianity, Judiasm, Hinduism, any religion). It doesn't matter what religion it is, dying for your religion is much different from suicide.

Martyrs are usually well known before death and die by another's hand whereas suicide is by one's own hand.

nah, people who are martyrs are people who are killed by others for not denying their beliefs. people who commit suicide have given up fighting for their beliefs ♥
