I just found this on the web and am disgusted with what I am reading. A group in America has asked that Britain be placed on the list of countires that support terrorism. We have stood side by side with America during their battle with terrorism and have lost men and women during that time. We experienced bomb detonation in my home city of London (although nothing compared to 9/11). I can't believe that somebody out there could be asking this. See the link below:

Anyone considering this should be given the order of the boot, preferably up the backside. As someone who has experienced terrorism from IRA, Muslim fundamentalists and sundry other factions in the Capital city then i would say come and tell me to my face, because you will get an answer you won't like.

Considering America's track record with Norad this group is obviously very selective in what defines terrorism and also shows up the so called special relationship for what it's worth. Perhaps we can now pull out our troops from Iraq and Afghanistan with a clear conscience.

However, I do have a niggling thought that there is an element of truth in this. We've all seen the demos by hate filled Muslim fanatics in London who mostly seem to go unpunished. We have all watched the BBC being extremely deferential to well know Muslims who support terrorism. Abu Hamza has still not been deported and Omar Bakri's wife and children are still living here in some style on British benefits.

That article predates 9/11, so isn't really relevant re: the war against terrorism, 7/7, etc.

The Americans have supported the IRA, supplied arms to Iraq, and trained people like Bin Laden, which kind of makes the article obsolete too.

I don't think this group can be said to represent the views of wider America. The other thing that's worth pointing out is that the lunatic 'New Labour' signed us up to the EU 'Human Rights Act', an act that has prevented the UK from dealing adequately with known terrorists. Following 9/11 the US tightened its airport security, understandably, but felt, because of our very poor border controls and failure to deal adequately with terrorists, could give the UK no special concessions when travelling to the US.

It is obvious that we don't support terrorism, we continue to fight it and also suffer from the effects of it. It has to be said though, for the reasons I stated above, that the US would be right to be wary of travellers from the UK given our appalling security weaknesses.

I remember TV news shots of people dancing and cheering in the bars of New York the day Canary Wharf in London was bombed - their money had funded Noraid. All I can say is the Yanks don't like it when terrorism comes close to home! Bunch of hypocrites. I would think that "America" would come before "Britain" or "England", "Scotland", "Wales " on any alphabetical list

That is pretty outrageous, I cannot believe what I was reading either.

Of course, I am sure the US has no skeletons in its closet that it would rather keep hidden away.

When it comes to national governments, an awful lot goes on that none of us mere citizens will ever know about. Whoever put that piece of diatribe together ought to get with the real world.

EDIT: that is a good point on the US funding the IRA!! Hypocrites, or what?!

Don't be fooled by this. Every Western government has sponsored terrorism.

USA - Nicaragua, Cuba, Germany, Palestine, Iran, Lybia, Afghanistan, Egypt, Lebanon, Chechnya to name but a few....

In fact by just supporting Israel the USA are supporting terrorists that during the 2nd World war actively sort to destroy British lives and collaborated with the Nazis. Yes with the Nazis!! Every Israeli leader was a member of a terrorist group that saw the loss of a few million Jewish lives fair compensation for a home land and destruction of Palestine.

All those St. Patrick Day parades in the USA only funded the IRA.

Reagan in South America....

Arming the Mujaheddin in Afghanistan and creating Osma Bin Laden and Al Quaida in the process.

To say nothing of Africa!!! Every rebel in that Continent and every leader is armed by either USA, GB or Russia.

The 5 largest arms producing nations are USA, Russia, China, GB, France and Germany.

The 5 Permanent members of the UN security council are USA, Russia, China, GB, France and Germany.

It is there interest to foster war and unrest!!

I would safely bet that there are hundreds of such document, on both sides of the Atlantic, about each others countries.

How sad would it be if a political leadership had no opposing views.

It is this type of document, though not acted upon, keeps the eyes and ears of political leaders open.

If we could see all the secret documents and proposals put forward by opposition parties, I doubt we would sleep at night.

I understand the case. However, based on the criteria postulated then the USA should itself also be placed on the list for blatantly allowing various groups (e.g. Noraid and others) to raise funds and drum up support for the murderous Irish republican groups. A fact which has not gone unnoticed by certain others.

Haven't read the link but perhaps we do inadvertently - starting a war in Afghanastan then Iraq is not exactly helping resolve international terrorism is it? 9/11 was a terrible event but those sorts of numbers get killed in the middle east frequently.

I do wonder - half the World is Islamic and we need to get a grip - how would we like them coming across trying to impose their laws on us - why do we feel the need to push democracy on them? What happened to diplomacy and getting along?
