Don't piss off ND... if they withdrew from union, they'd be the 3rd biggest Nuke power in the world! (that's what I heard in the 80s... not sure if it's still true after all the treaties...)

How about "A place for the wind to traverse... " we always used to say it was windy in ND because "Montana blows & Minnesota sucks..." (lol)

As they say, "Why not Minot? Freezin's the reason!" Or "Only the chosen are Frozen!"

(It was actually a pretty neat place to live, and aside from having no mountains, I didn't mind it at all... but that's me. To each his own!)

It helps the United States of America stay connected to Canada and provides a medium for surface movement between Montana, Minnesota, and South Dakota. Beyond that, I don't know as I have never been there.

Keeps South Dakota from looking like idiots. I mean, it would be weird to have a 'South' without another Dakota above it.
