If you get sick, they'll just turn down your claims anyway, then drop your policy. I'm starting to think it doesn't matter, why go to the expense?

Dude, I totally know what you mean. Even though my employer provides us with insurance, I find the quality of it (Humana) to be lousy for so much money that they're getting paid in our premiums. Coincidentally, those premiums rise every year and nothing else improves.

When you go to the doctor and show your insurance card, you'd think you'd be covered. Wrong! I found out the hard way that you'd better ask if the insurance will cover the procedure. Last year I wound up $900 short b/c I had to pay for the mammogram I had done when I found a cyst. The bastards won't cover it if you're under like 30 or 35 years old. Why should I have even bothered having insurance when I could just walk into County General and get my titz looked at for free?

Oh, and to Connor G, you're completely clueless. Fuzzy isn't an uneducated, unemployed freeloader, so get your facts straight before making false accusations.

I have health insurance through my employer. However, I still had to pay out a lot when I had surgery. Also, the only hospital in town was caught overcharging and agreed to pay back money to people with no insurance, but didn't pay back any to people with insurance. They were also charging more to people with insurance. We need to go to universal health care so medical decisions aren't business decisions.

I have not had any problems with my health insurance. I have had to be hospitalized 3 times in the last 3 years and they have covered everything.

I hate insurance companies! For 22 years I avoided paying for health insurance, by working temporary contracts that did not require enrollment. Now, as a graduate student, I have to pay health insurance premiums - my school requires it. What a racket! I agree they don't pay out when you make a claim...

In a case like that, you can file a lawsuit for breach of contract and bad faith. In addition to your medical expenses, a jury may award you millions in punitive damages. The insurance companies know this, so unless your claim is totally bogus, they will always settle out of court. Always.

I wonder about that myself. We end up having de facto socialized health care anyway with all the uncovered people who are treated in emergency rooms and then can't pay their bills. Why bother with paying for insurance?

I have never had a problem with getting any medical procedures done and I belong to an HMO. I am quite happy with my health insurance right now. And I have had a few more pricey procedures done.

My health insurance policy pays as long as the expenses are justified. I have no problem with it. I really don't want to pay for your medical expenses so get a good education,a good job, and you can pay for your own! Stop whining and waiting for a handout!
