Accept it. You are always going to be white so you might as well get use to it. If someone wants to judge you by a stereotype and not take the time to get to know you personally, then they aren't worth bothering with. You should never be ashamed of who you are.

DUDE!! I'm 51 years old, and have yet to hear that the world thinks of an American as a fat beer drinking redneck cussing his TV about his "team"!!
LOOK AT IT THIS WAY - IF the dude is a redneck, than obviously HE WORKS - - if he is FAT, then he likes to eat, food is expensive, so he EARNS LOTS OF MONEY! Its the weekend, so he can relax awhile with A beer, maybe two - IT IS NOT ILLEGAL TO HAVE A BEER! Now, I HATE football and could do without TV, so I'm at a loss on those... BUT 3 GOOD points out of 5 are not that bad!!!
I'm WHITE and would not want to be anything else for any reason thank you.

Dude, you're looking at this all wrong...If you are "white" and an "American" in another country, enjoy it!!! Consider this. Anything (and I mean ANYTHING) you say or do in another country will be taken as a "cultural" difference. The way you look is often more appealling in another country as well. For example, I lived in Ireland for a year. Here in California, my skin was too light, my hair too short, my butt too big, and my personality was too crass and abrupt. People often thought I was rude or ignorant because I liked to joke around a lot, and I often jack up the punchline. But in Ireland, my skin was just a shade darker then everyone elses, and they thought I was beautiful despite all my "California downfalls". They loved my accent, and all the jokes I told were hsyterical to my new Irish friends. What was taken as "rudeness" in California was considered "cultural ignorance" in Ireland. They shrugged off any rude behavior as me not knowing their ways.
Plus, I found out so much about what other countries thought of Americans...and believe me, they never believe what we think they do about us. Most countries love Americans, but they don't understand why we do the things we do. Most likely, those people will think you are some kind of awesome rich surfer from a place where anything can happen. Enjoy being different. Your conquering new frontiers.
Hope this helps.

Well if people are meeting you in person, the American stereotype you are afraid of will be nothing to worry about because people will see the real you. Don't make any apologies for where you're from because there are all kinds of different people who call America home. Thanks to Hollywood and the internet, people should be aware that America is a diverse place and not really like what you describe. Yes it will be obvious that you are not ethnically Japanese... but hopefully they will give you a chance and get to know you first before judging.

Hey! darrkadlubowski,
Let's ask some pertinent Q's: Who are you? What are you good at? What do you love about life? What do you hate, besides ovecoming your "whiteness"? lol What & who do you want to be remembered by/as?
Be the best at being YOU! Respect your heritage, it's much to be proud of...And be open to all cultures & peoples. When we're open & giving of our hearts & time, then others extend that grace back to us...I never actually thought I'd see the day when a fellow American would say those words you've expressed, but I see it more n more unfortunately. Keep the spirit alive no matter where you go in this world. We ARE a BLESSED nation, that should never be forgotten!...Best wishes!

wait, so your American? or Japanese?
If you want to be whiter then there is special soaps you can buy to help lighten a naturally tanned person.
But if your talking in general terms then theres not much you can do.
And its not true.
When I think of Americans I straight away think of Hollywood/Celebs/AWESOME bands etc.
Not everyone thinks of Americans as bigs.
I personally think they are cool because of all the cool things that come from the country.
The American stereotype is no difference to the Australian stereotype.
I don't go around saying G'day, or do I often use slang.

Don't be the stereotype. Incidentally, you will never assimilate into Japan. You will always be a Gaijin to them. That is OK. The Japanese are an accommodating people on the average.
