I hate everything the Bush administration stands for. They are all a bunch of crooks and liars. But I have to admit I have a certain grudging respect for Tony Snow. Unlike his predecessors, Snow had balls of steel. He could deliver the administration's lies with a straight face! Bush's other press secretaries acted like their feelings where hurt when people didn't believe them. Snow didn't care if you believed it or not, that was the official story and he'd stick to it. Next question?

I didn't think he'd come back to work at all after the cancer. You can see it took a lot out of him. I give him credit.

Strangely, as perhaps the most skillful and straight-faced liar in an administration made up of skillful liars, Snow was able to tell the truth where it counted. Yeah, it can't be fun to try to sell lies for an administration whose credibility and popularity ratings are in total free-fall (even though he was good at it!) But why should he tell lies for the admin for $180k/yr when he can tell the same lies for Fox News for several times that?

Besides, Fox News viewers are not as critical as the journalists in the White House Press Corps who know what's going on, Fox News viewers are the easiest people in the world to lie to! The LOVE Snow's lies! Who wouldn't rather lie to people like that than hardened reporters who know they're being lied to and would rather have the truth? And for a lot more money too!

If you look at it that way, it's really a no-brainer.

He needs to prepare the way for his family. He can make much more working the news circuit and his program with Fox News.

We can clearly see that he has cancer.

I pray for him to live long enough to have his family in a good position when he passes on.

With cancer, he could live for years but he's too smart to take a chance and wait till the end of 2008.

He has trained someone very good to take his place.

I like him a lot.

Thanks for the question. That's the way I look at it.

Truth is, that's not that much money, considering what he had to do. Besides, none of us really know what financial burdens others carry. Still, he probably did not quit for financial reasons.
I think he's probably quite ill. It's a shame. He's a good man, a thinker, a great radio personality. I fear we may loose him soon.

I think it was actually because of his cancer but he didn't want to give it as the reason because he didn't want to be remembered that way.
