Fifty five years ago I went with my mom and my dad to visit grandpa in Key West Florida. At the time we lived in Pensacola Florida. If you look at the map and if you can recall that there were few who could afford an air conditioned car back then,,you will get an idea how long and hot that trip was. At that time many of the connecting bridges from key to key were still made of wood and only allowed a single car to pass one way at a time. We went in the summer time because I was out of school. There were no fast food places then and no automobile televisions in peoples cars. I was too young to read,so we had little to do as we traveled along. The worst thing was that there were no public rest rooms. The best thing was the view. The keys are very beautiful. As we drove along the way I would ask my mom how much furthur it was. I knew that we were heading toward Miami first to stop and visit my aunt mary. Miami was a thing I did not understand at the age of seven,,,but I kept asking mom,,,,ARE WE AT YOUR AMI YET?

I took 4 months off of work and went around the country on my motorcycle camping along the way and taking the back roads. I went from Alaska to Florida and all places in between. A trip of a lifetime. Saw most of Canada too!

In 1998 we took the motorhome to North Carolina in a roundabout trip. In 2005 we took the motorhome up to Maine in a roundabout trip. We took a month each time.

Can you imagine a family of 10 in a 29 foot motorhome for an entire month? It was AWESOME!

Well I have driven from Oregon to New York before, it was wonderfully long and I had the most fun of my life. I was 17 and with my friends, I loved it so much. It is a memory that I will never forget.
