POLL:
Do you think we should come down hard with the parents of children who break the law time and time again?

EDIT: yes good point, but the law would take into account if a child did have mental health problems before dealing with the parents

Parents do have some responsibility to control the kids - so why not.

Some kids are sociopaths and whatever the parents do nothing will stop that.
The recent suggestion to raise the age of criminal responsibility is just stupid and should be scrapped without a second thought. If the kids are thugs and criminals they should be treated as such, it is no defence to say he's just a kid - they know what they are doing, if the kids at 10 years old don't know right from wrong then that is a matter of bad parenting and lack of discipline at schools.
yes the parents should be made to act as guarantor if the kid is given a fine or whatever but the child should still be held responsible and given community service or whatever as well.

you're the parent. If your minor child breaks the law and is fined, yes you, as the parent, should pay the fine and make your kid pay you back. Teach your children some responsibility for their action, and what the consequences are if they get in trouble. That's your job as the parent. DO IT!

Bonjour madam

Yes but sometimes the parents have nocontrol, and teh children have the worng friends, and in this democratic society we are powerless and the children have picke dup on this.

So best thing is to educate, which affacuse the goverment does not want, then they cant maniuplate the general public, espcially the youth when they come to voting etc.

child reform homes are not of much use still we go on sending children there.

Only parents should not be held responsible. but whole congregation, society needs to be collectively responsible and come out openly in support of children who need correction care and love. Law is for punishing , which results into bruised ego and selfesteem. We need such mechanism where children will also be corrected and parents will have loving attitude to them.

Yes, the parents should be the ones teaching them right from wrong.

if the kid is a psychopath, that's a genetic mistake. nothing the parent can do to change it. wouldn't it be nice if parents had full control over their kids? then car insurance wouldn't be so damn high.
