I have been seeing a man for several months now. He recently brought to my attention that once (only once) when we were in bed; that I had an odor. This surprised and hurt me; because I was unaware. I have had no problems and am very careful about my hygiene. This caused an argument and we were apart for 6 weeks. During that time, I was very conscious of myself; but never noticed any vaginal odor.
We got back together. Then I notice an odor a day after we made love, even though I had showered. I am beginning to wonder if it is a matter of body chemistry that is imcompatible. I was married for almost 14 yrs. and never had this problem with my husband.
Has anyone ever heard of something like this or experienced this problem?
I am really concerned about it and confused.

First let me say that sounds terrible! It seems like he was totally not sensitive the way he said that to you :(

You may have more of a scent from sex because the vagina is naturally slightly acidic and sperm is ph neutral to alkaline so a sudden ph increase in you can cause a slight scent change. I don't think that it would be unpleaseant.

More serious is that sometimes the ph change caused by sperm can cause bacterial overgrowth and give you bacterial vaginosis. That will give a noticable fishy vaginal odor and can give burning and discharge. And yes some men's sperm can be more alkaline than others and trigger it.

Edit I forgot to say that guys can be infected too and smell fishy!

Well great question, is it possible it is him?? Next time us a condom smell his sperm, smell your vagina the next few hours and see if there is a connection. I would consult with the doctor if this relationship is going to go anywhere. I think most woman are very concerned that we have no odor, but maybe he is causing it.
