no way ..even if they run the table they will be graded by the loss to appalachian state . at bowl selection time the committee will look at the one loss teams and decide accordingly. the only way they have a chance is if everyone in the top five has two losses at the end of the year. and that simply wont happen.

How could any voter look at themselves in the mirror if they vote for Michigan as national champion after they lost to a 1-AA (or whatever it's called now) team? Michigan was ranked in the TOP FIVE and still lost to A. State. Sure, A. State is a great 1-AA team and all but there's no way a team that lost to a lower league team should even be considered for the title.

Well being the fact that the was the first game and not a mid-season game they have time to rebound. They have good teams on their which present chances for them to impress folks by beating good teams on national television and move up the standings. For example lets say the fall to 12 or 13. OK. They have Oregon this week. Lets say the beat Oregon convincingly. They should up at least 2 spots to 10. Then Notre Dame. Thats always a poll-booster. The AP loves Notre Dame. A big win would propel Michigan to like, 7 or 8. Then a big win vs Penn State, who will be 14 or 15 when they see us. That would move Michigan back up into 5 or 6. Everyone is saying its over too early. I just broke it down. They could be back in the top in a matter of weeks. Not to mention opportunities vs. Wisconsin and Ohio State, who, due to their weak schedule, will be highly ranked. Michigan could pull their own miracle season. Hell, crazier things have happened. They just have to take it week by week. They're still playing football out there. Michigan is not a bad team. They played a bad game, defensively. They will be back.

No because the voters would be staring a hole at the Appalachian State loss. They look horrible, I think last year's Detroit Lions could give them a serious run for the money. Also the way LSU beat Virginia Tech and I don't think USC is going to lose 2 games never mind 3.

If every other Division I Team loses 2 games and Michigan has no other losses, they may have a shot. Otherwise, they are toast. It may be only 1 loss, but it should be ranked as the most embarassing of all time.
H-APP-Y Appy is really a bottom Division I Team that won't move up.

Well even tho I'm one of the Michigan alumni, I have to see things as they are. I can't fathom a scenario where we will ever be considered for the national title regardless how strong we finish. We can possibly win the big 10 and also a bowl game if we get it together but there's little hope honestly.
PS ... wrecker doesn't seem too confident in the buckeyes he says 'hopefully' they will lose to them.

I would like to think so and of course anything is possible, BUT it would literally require winning out in dominating fashion, AND having basically ALL of the other major conference teams lose at least 2 games. This is unless it is a team that has 1 loss, but lost to us (could be Ohio St, Wisco, Penn St, but unlikely).
I think if ANY team from a major conference has 1 loss and is up against us in this hypothetical scenario where we win out, they will trump us and make the NC game.
To be honest, they probably would deserve to.

Ummmm, Michigan totally sucks. They lost again yesterday to Oregon, meaning they're 0-2, with both losses coming at home. They shoulda taken Lloyd Carr out in back of the big house last week, beat him up, had third-graders urinate on him and then made him take out the garbage BEFORE firing him!!!! That QB is the most overrated piece of $hi+ I have ever seen. Heisman Trophy candidate? He can't even spell Heisman.

Don't worry it's not going to happen anyway. If they can't beat a team they are supposed to beat at HOME how are they going to win in the Big 10 on the road? Not to mention Ohio State is going to roll over them to hand them their 3rd loss at the least. They probably won't beat Penn State, they will struggle to stop MSU and I highly doubt they can handle Wisconsin.
