I've got both Tom Brady and Drew Brees in a POINTS ONLY league and need to know which one to start in week 1. Both are facing pretty weak secondaries...
Patriots vs. Jets (Randy Moss may not start)
Saints vs. Colts
This is just an extremely tough decision for me to make. Both teams have extremely solid receiving cores and also have a pretty good running game (Saints more than the Pats). So yeah... any suggestions?
Thanks

Drafting both Brady and Brees was more strategy than anything. I took Brady first and then opted to go with Brees in the 3rd round to not only solidify the QB position in case of injury but to also prevent other teams from possibly putting 5 TD's up against me in one game... see what I mean?

That is a though call.
Colts pass defense actually isn't that bad, it was just their rush defense that was so bad. And they can get after the quarterback too.
Jets defense has no big playmakes munching their chops but they played their spots right and got into the Patriots head last year beating them twice.
I would go with Brees though. First game of season, national television, 2 of the last 4 standing quarterbacks last season, both super bowl contenders..... There is going to be fireworks in that game, while Bellicheck likes to start his guys out conservitive.
Especially in a points only league, Jets and Pats won't be a shootout. The Indy and Saints game has shootout written all over it.

Im a pats fan, but I think I would go with Brees and here is why:
1. Although the Jets pass defense is pretty bad, their run defense is even worse. If you have Maroney, start him. Moss is back and I would guess he will play but when you face a defense that gave up almost 5 yards a rush last season you gotta run.
2. The Jets can give the pats some pretty good games. They beat them once last year, (one poster said twice but it was only once). Division rivals know each other, and the jets will have some schemes that will keep the game within reason.
3. I think the Saints will come to play this week, I dont think they will win but they will have a shoot out with the colts and the colts defense isn't very good.
4. The Saints will pass more than I think the pats will especially when they get in the red zone. The pats will throw, but I would expect in the red zone a lot of runs from maroney because like I said earlier, the Jets run defense is really bad.

As much as I love Drew Brees, I would start Tom Brady.

You wasted a pick on Brees when you had Brady or vice versa. I know neither couldn't go past the third round. You couldn't pick a good running back or WR? Now you will have to sit one all freakin year. You are already in big trouble my friend. Trade while you still can.

My starting QB is Tom Brady, and Chad Pennington and Ben Roethlisberger are my backups. I wanted Drew Brees as my backup, but someone got him first.
But I'm a chick. What do I know?

Brees. The New Orleans offensive tends to throw more then the New England offense, so I think he suits a points only league better.

The Super Bowl MVP is a must start every week. Since you have two of the top five QB's maybe you can trade one for a premier RB. RB's dominate fantasy stats. And you can't start two QB's. But you can start two premier RB's.
