My 2 sisters had arranged marriages and they are going strong with their respective husbands. i had a love marriage and it ended in a year. i don't mean to say one is better than the other but i want to convey that after the marriage the basic dedication and hard work required is all the same. These days even arranged marriage is not imposed. And there is nothing wrong if a match is proposed by someone else and that proposal turns out into a lifelong romance. Probably arranged marriage offers perspective of different people.

Nonetheless both kind of marriages are lot of hard work, requires dedication and committment.

I say they both would have punishment/problems (I assume you mean). Because pretty much with the love marriage, people think they know each other after what 2 weeks or months even and run off to vegas or something to get married, only to come back home and realize, wow my wife is an acoholic b-itch that can't drive. Or that my husband is a philandering, moronic, @sshole that spends up all our money. I mean that could be the whole freaking first year or few months of the marriage. So see if you think you love someone in less than a year, you are bound to be punished by it in similar or worese ways than I just mentioned.

As for the arranged marriage. I think the only punishment could be if you are set up to be with someone as old as your grandfather, or beats you constantly. But if its someone, nice and is willing to get to know you overtime then sure, I say that can work out quite well.

But yea as I said it really depends on how you look at either type of marriage, and the people that are gettin involved in either situation.

I'd take part in an arranged marriage. But the bride's parents would have to put up a HUGE dowry.....(Not goats, cows or such chattels).

I'd even agree to change my religion - if the money was worth it.
