42 = life, the universe and everything , but for the question you will have to ask the mice.
My towel hasn't been washed in 157 years, and is currently sustaining a protein rich life form that I will have to use as a food source the next time I'm stuck in a Vogon boiler room.
BTW, thanks for all the fish.

42 is of course the answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything, though we don't know the question...might be how many road's one must walk down in life, but not quite sure.
And of course any fellow who really truly has his life together knows where his towel is at all times. Very important those towels. Almost of universal use as well.

42 is the answer to the ultimate question about life, the universe and everything. No one knows the question though. And the towel is something very important you should always take with you.

42 is the age when I either have finally discovered what the question really is or remain heplessly lost for the rest of my life.
As for the towel... I have 2! One just isn't enough anymore... And it helps you keep a friend from raiding the nearest hotel when in need...

42 is the answer - Just forgot the question. Seriously 42 is just a number, for some people it's random: for others, their age.I never understood Douglas Adams anyway.
The towel? the thing that keeps humanity civilized.

Most of the others already got the answer.. but there is ONE tiny detail incorrect..
It is not entirely true that nobody knows the question.. in the very beginning, before the earth is destroyed a girl solved it.. (she didn't really know what she solved.. but she did).. of course, girl was then killed to make way for a bypass.. but.. that's life I guess..
