In the absence of any clear idea about the ultimate purpose, we are simply wandering around. We keep changing our priorities and that only results in our going in circles. Finally, there is so much divergence of mind and people that we keep pulling in different directions which is no way to make any significant progress.
These traits have continued all the time in history and there really appears to be no hope of change since they seem to be fundamentally ingrained in us.
Does that mean we have not achieved our potential? In my view, our true potential can only be judged by what we achieve, since the principle of cause and effect is inviolable in this universe. Due to our ego, we assume as though we do have a higher potential than what is actually demonstrated by the results. Mankind as a whole is having no unified and consistent purpose and that is the root cause for all our so-called progress turning out to be illusory in the eventual analysis.

The vices of yesterday are no less evil or less pervasive than those of today. Time are different but we are still all human.
Man's ability to learn is a doorway with no door. He has no choice but to take the next step into tomorrow and a newer knowledge. Learning/change is human and it never stops, if it did humanity would collapse.

No. And I think women should have more exposure to developing our potential too. Mankind has learned and changed but there is no direction that we have to follow. I think one of the writers in the Bible said man doesn't even know how to direct his own step. I hope mankind will change and I'm not too sure if there is a god that'll make it all better for us. I think we should be able to sort our problems out if we don't worry too much about ourself as an individual. Instead we should think about ourselves as intelligent creatures that are capable of a great many wonderful things. If we can do that in a united way and forget about ourselves as over-important individuals we can change.

Mankind has definitly not lived up to its potenial. It is impossible to do so, every single person would have to be the best person they could be, and i dont think that is likely to happen.
Have we changed, of course, you can't deny that. we have more teclology, and compleatly different indevigual lifestyles. But have we learned, i'm not sure. Our governments haven't really changed. It has always been, and probably always will be, a small group of people ruling a large group of people, with (usually) popular support. We have learned scientificly, but at any moment, any number of scientific theorys could be unproven. That's why they are called theorys. I believe we have learned many things that don't matter in the large scheme of things i guess.
We will change. We will learn. The question is, will it make any difference.

Interesting Question... What IS "man's potential" -besides Procreation??? Everything we DO- is geared towards perpetuation of Our Species... True...-we HAVE "progressed" to a certain extent over the Millenia...-But what have we really DONE- other than gotten "better" at protecting our "Own"- & a handfull of favored creatures we've "adopted" for our OWN devices??! Are WE the "be all & end all", of what we're good for? If Mankind leaves behind nothing MORE than a trail of wrack & ruinned Worlds- divested of Natural Resources & poisoned by Global Warming...- could it BE that our "Potential" is nothing more than as a "Cancer" spreading across the Body Universe??? Is THAT ALL we have to "offer" by virtue of what we learn & how we change? :0

We are constantly in transition, evolving as a species, as a society, and as individuals. Our 'potential' is, as of yet, unknown.
Asking if we have reached our potential is tantamount to asking the meaning of life... what, exactly is the best we can do? Is it a goal of sorts, that we can reach individually, or is it something that needs to be reached en masse? As a society or as a species?
We are constantly learning and changing, our current vices are future tools for learning, like falling off of a bike. Unfortunately, we have been falling off of this bike for thousands of years, but at least the bike has gotten more streamlined.

If you ask me, I don't think The Universe is very pleased with the overall performance of "The Self-conscious Substance" on this planet, so far. And though, The Self-conscious Substance still lingers around, the question remains: For how much longer and for what Purpose? ... The Universe is awfully patient you know; even more patient than Evolution itself!

Mankind is a disease to this planet in every way possible. So if that's what you mean by potential, then yes.
