"When the cows come home." It always sounds like it's a long time but every dairy farm I ever saw had the cows come in regualrly at milking time so what does the expression mean?
And "as the crow flies". Do crows really fly in a straight line over the shortest distance?

I think Lewis Carroll made up the pigs flying bit... somehow I'm not shocked. Those darned POT SMOKERS!
My favourite strange line is '...and you may lay to it,' which is only odd because it's old and apparently no one but my father still says it, except me.
Or how about "Bob's your uncle"?? That one's a bit inexplicable. As far as a hair of the dog (that bit you), it means you have to have another drink to cure your hangover.

I say some of the wirest things it a wonder people dont look at me funny. I say gage a magget alot and others in my school started saying it.. it was wired. O hes a soccer dad..
