That would solely depend on each person or couple and their emotional and mental capacities. What you thought was positive advantages may be determined as negative ones or disadvantages by someone else. However, IF YOU ARE contemplating on adopting a child and have to wonder if there is a disadvantage to it, then YOU ARE NOT a good candidate for being its parent. If you finally adopted one after you had decided there were any disadvantages, those disadvantages would eventually come out in the rearing of the child and could turn into regret on your part which would effect your ability to properly LOVE that child. AND THAT WOULD BE A BAD DISADVANTAGE FOR THAT CHILD.

Advantages:
1. The global population is more than high enough already.
2. You are giving an otherwise hopeless child a home.
3. You are having a child, not because "it happened" but because you want one.
4. You (or whoever the mother is) don't have to go through 9 long months of hormonal, body, and mental issues.
5. You are setting a good philanthropic example in a very selfish society.

Disadvantages:
1. There is always a possibility the child will go looking for their birth parents. This is psetting to adoptive parents.
2. Adopted children tend to exhibit more behavioral problems, due to genetically inherited temperament (this is true- read Freakonomics)!
3. You may have to deal with social workers for years.
4. If you want an infant, not a toddler or grown child, you will have to wait.
5. If you have racial preferences towards Asian and Caucasion babies, you will likely have to go out of the country.

Advantages:

1.) It becomes ur child the day u adopt.
2.) Your responsible as a parent to this child and all that u'd do for ur own flesh and blood kid applies to this adopted kid too, it no different, theres blood, flesh and a heart in this kid too albeit only fathered and mothered by some stranger still a human being none the less.
3.) The child will call u father/ mother or watever u teach it to call but in the end the child will always look upto u for support, love, comfort and security.
4.) U and ur partner are mother and father to this child u adopt and thus ur abiding by the bonds of love, u form a whole new responsible relationship.
5.) As parents to this child u'll be growing up a future so bright and help save a kid from getting lost in misery of orphanages, lack of food , security, love deprived due to desertion from it's biological parents. U will be his/her world and as a child no matter wat u will always be loved by the kids.
6.) U will contribute ur responsibility towards this world by adopting a parentless child and helping the child grow to someone in future with right education, u will be shaping up a childs life and in return u'll be paid back with love and satisfaction only a true parent will understand. A bond forms which is so precious that u will never even think of the child as adopted.

Disadvantages:

Rather none but still in some exceptional cases just in case :
1.) a strong chance by a coincidence the biological parents come in contact with this child and plan to take him /her away.
2.) If u adopted a kid from ur siblings or close family members a strong possibility of them realising maternal/paternal instincts.
3.) The child growing up with some genetic disease but which can be taken into stride as u'd treat ur own blood kid.
4.) The kid after knowing that he/she was adopted decides to desert u at a later stage and goes in search of it's biological parents ( bullsh*t tho ) Coz being responsible u shud truly tell ur kid that he/she was adopted so that they realise u r really loving them as ur own kid and not some orphan.
5.) Oh the last will be the pain if the kids turn out to be monsters lol

Please if u r truly thinking of adopting a child and u r well with ur financial background and can love the child as ur own u'd make a child life precious and more valid, the best thing u can ever do even if u have ur biological kids u can make some deserted kids life.

May God Bless U.
