You need to talk to your doctor.... you are not "protected" until one or more full cycles.

I took the pill for a lot of years. You are suppose to start taking them the first day of your period and they don't start working for the first 3 months. You must finish 3 months worth before you are protected so use a condom or some other type of birth control until your 3 months are up....

Regarding the "did you take it right" part, I would ask your doctor, but as for being protected right away, big no. My aunt was on it for almost 3 months when she got pregnant with my cousin. I would use condoms or another "back up" method for awhile until your body is adjusted to the pills.

if you follow the directions on the packet you should be taking it right. but no you won't be protected straight away. despite the pill you should be using condoms. an std is really much worse, particularly when you are talking about hepatitis and HIV. please use the condoms and think of the pill as just a way to regulate your periods, so you can plan your social life. condoms are not optional.

Leigh T is right. You are taking your pills correctly. When I was prescribed my birth contorl, my doctor told me to take mine he exact same way. He said that by me taking it on a sunday, it would help my periods to be more regular, or something like that! As for protection wise, you are supposed to wait a week or so to have unprotected sex.

You should always use back up methods the first couple months after starting the pill, condoms, spermicides, etc. After that you should be okay just remember that the pills are not 100% and they don not protect against STD's so you should always use condoms until marriage,Be Healthy,:)

You are taking it correctly and IMO you should use another form of protection (condom) for at least two weeks to ensure the 99.9% effectiveness of the pill.

That's exactly how mine works. You are taking it the right way, trust me. And you can have unprotected sex after one week on the pill. but right away, I'm not so sure about that...
