Candida or Monilia is a skin rash caused by a yeast living on normal skin of 80% of all people. In most people, the presence of this yeast on the skin is not visible. In some people, for unknown reasons, the yeast grows more actively and causes a red, itchy, scaling rash. The yeast likes warm moist areas and usually grows in the skin folds under the breast, stomach, and arm pits.
Candida - CAUSE
Candida is caused by a yeast called Candida albicans.
Candida infection sometimes occurs as a result of antibiotic therapy.
People with diabetes are more prone to getting the rash of Candida, but the rash can occur in anyone.
Candida - SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
Red, itchy, scaling rash on skin, usually worse in the skin folds under the breast, stomach, and arm pits.
This vaginal infection occurs predominantly in reproductive age women. The main symptoms produced by a candida yeast vaginitis are vaginal and/or vulvar itching (pruritus), or even a vulvar burning sensation. There is a cheese-like (caseous) white to white yellow discharge. Also there can be swelling of the perineum or a redness (erythema) (1). The discharge is not watery and usually not odorous. Symptoms build up over 1-3 days.
Candida - HOW DIAGNOSIS IS DONE?
Gram stain showing yeast is an accurate method of diagnosis as is culture.
Candida - TREATMENT & HOMEOPATHIC MEDICINES
Homeopathy is very well known for its effectiveness in skin-disorders. There are many homeopathic medicines which have been used clinically against fungal diseases and candida. The following homeopathic medicines may help in the treatment of Candida:
Sulphur, Sepia, Antim crud, Natrum mur, Natrum salicylicum, Petroleum, Medorrhinum, Thuja etc.
Candida - CONVENTIONAL TREATMENT
A common treatment regimen is anti-yeast cream applied to the affected area twice a day followed by hydrocortisone cream. Azole class of drugs are also commonly used.
Candida - WHAT ELSE CAN I DO?
If you have recurrent Candida infections you should have a glucose tolerance test done to rule out diabetes mellitus.
If you are a diabetic and are frequently diagnosed with Candida infections your blood glucose levels are probably not in the normal range. You should contact your family doctor and have your treatment plan reevaluated.

If you can find a product called Kefir in your health food store, it works wonders. It is a delicious, yogurt-like drink that comes in yummy flavors. It is full of probiotics that naturally fight off yeast. I was absolutely plagued by candida, and since I have been drinking some of this in the morning, I haven't had one infection. Hope you can find it. Good luck!

Yes there are - start with your diet - cut out sugar, yeast and processed foods totally or as much as you can. (in particular white bread, pasta, mushrooms, grapes, plumbs, sweets, alcohol etc) This can be short term while you get your intestinal flora balanced again but if it keeps recurring its best to reduce these anyway.
Inserting bio live yogurt, or garlic clove with skin on into the vagina at night and removing in the morning helps. As does eating raw garlic and bio yogurt. (not necessarily together)
I swear by citricidal - grapefruit seed extract. It is the most foul taste ever but a few drops drunk in water twice a day, also used as a douche at night for about a week at a time.
Take good quality pro biotics too - they balance out your internal flora putting back all the healthy biotics.
If you can see a homeopath they will be able to prescribe specifically what you as an individual needs. So too would herbalists and naturopaths.
Increase fresh vegetables and whole grain foods into your diet too.
Also avoid unprotected sex because you can pass it back and forth between you and your partner. However, spermicides could also cause an inbalance that provides the right environment for the yeast to grow. The pill can also do this too.

Yes, ph is important, try and maintain an alkaline ph of over 8.. you can do this by drinking goji juice or something else high in antioxidants, but don't stay with a ph of 8 for more than 6 hours, as you can get urinary tract infection.

(1) Stay off all sugary or starchy carbohydrates -- bread, sugar, pasta etc.
(2) Use grapefruit seed extract as a douche -- it kills candida on contact. Read instructions carefully as it must be diluted.
(3) Take probiotics to repopulate your system with healthy flora
(4) Use kombucha or apple cider vinegar to help digest your food properly.
I am convinced that many candida sufferers have hypoacidity problems.
