I don't believe in equality for men and for women except in terms of value. We are on average fundamentally different. Strength, size, endurance, longevity, emotionally, intellectual biases, etc, etc.
What we have seen in society is mostly in changes for the betterment of women in terms of value. Other changes where we go beyond that into forced equality is doomed to failure.
The actions of women who are pushing the forced equality and beyond are discouraging the majority of men to support their goals.
The majority of women are naturally taking advantage of the new opportunities open to them to pursue their short term goals. The majority of people are not altruistic. Some of these behaviours rightly or wrongly are viewed as selfish and short term. Mostly by men. When these actions directly impinge on mens rights, at that point not only will they be discouraged against "equality" they will turn hostile.
The feminists mantra of a male backlash has fundamental flaws, in that it argues that men are losing their superior power and privileges and are reacting to the loss of these.
However I put it to the feminists. Men are observing that we are losing our family values. We are creating a very destructive society, with the rise of family breakdown, drug and alcohol abuse, crime, rise of mental illness and suicide.
What right minded man would want all this just to appease feminists.
Society is built on family. Feminists don't believe in family. Feminists even define the basic unit of the family as mother and children with no role for the father except as sperm donor.
The feminists are creating opportunities for women to violate men's rights for their own advantage and benefit. Fundamental basis of law is being changed and that's before the inherent prejudice and "chivalry" shown to women in the legal system.

Wikham has it right. I have no problem treating women as equals, but the problem is, women can't do some things that men can. Or at least not a majority of women. There are some things men can't do as well as women but while men and women should be treated equal, that doesn't mean they are the same. The problem I have with a majority of women on this is they want all the benefits of being a man without the responsibility. I'm tired of hearing them demand to be treated 'equally', and then turn around and call you an insensitive jerk for not paying their meal ticket on a date or opening doors for them. I will hold a door for anyone, but I won't do it because you're a woman. Most women, especially feminists nowadays seem to aim more towards having the scales tipped in their favor more than equality. But the fact of the matter is, things nowadays are pretty much in a woman's favor. The legal system is just one prime example of this in about anything you can think of versus men by a wide margin.
*edit*
child custody, rape allegations(look up false rape statistics, you'd be surprised) divorce, domestic violence(47% of husbands vs 33% of wives) yes, it's more prevalent with men, but who do you think is most likely to get hauled away on it?

I think most men and women already are supportive of the idea of equality between the sexes. Supporting an abstract idea is one thing, however, putting it into practice is quite another.
Sure, there are those on both sides of this equation who do not support equality, and may never, despite all the education on the subject they might have (or have not.) I'm sure there are things we can do that would help...like educate and live as role models...influencing people by being living examples of the ideals we wish others might decide to adopt. We can't force our beliefs onto others...but we can be "a light that shines in the darkness" by which (hopefully) others can also "see".

The actions of the majority of women discourage the majority of men to be supportive of equality for women.
e.g. Women expect men to treat them as equals (i.e with respect) but expect men also to treat them as women (e.g pay for everything, carry heavy things).
Women do not want equality, they want everything.

That's what I've seen. The nice guys that treat women with respect are more likely to be victims of mistreatment than jerks, who are rewarded with sex. The actions of the majority of women are indicative of opportunists, and all men can see that. Some men think it's all women who are this way, so that's another effect.

Women don't want "equality." They want special rights in the work force and in the legal system, but "equality" only when it suits them.
"Women owned businesses are encouraged to apply and will be given special consideration." Why?

Listen to the scorn by the women here and they are supposed to be the caring, kind, compassionate ones or so feminist indoctrination tells them and that is why they are better than men. Once again feminist prove they don't want equality the prove it by saying they are kind yet speaking about men with nothing but spite. Feminist have to eat their dinner on two plates one for each face. The kind one and their true one the face of deception.

Who cares what the bigot or racist or sexist thinks? It is unhealthy, unwise and codependent behavior to concern oneself with pleasing everyone, certainly to try to please the lowest common denominators in a society. All great people write of this. Those who seek equality for all people have very low opinions of those dregs in societies who seek to reduce and suppress others. My sensei tells me to waste no moment of my life on the hopeless.
