I love all animals pitbulls included. I have met very sweet and lovable ones. I do fear them though, and would never own one with children in the household, that would just be a precaution. They are genetically bred to be fighting dogs, so even those raised to be a family pet can indeed turn since they are predisposed to this problem.

I don't hate pit bulls. I hate the owners that turn them into killers! A breed is just a breed. I can't hate an entire breed of dog...any more than I can hate entire race of people *whom some are vicious killers *. I will start volunteering at our local humane society next week and i will socialize with ALL DOGS...But, I must respect your opinion of hating them , too. You may have important reasons.

EDIT: The only dog I have ever been attacked by was a German Police dog when I was younger. I do not hate all German Police dogs. If you have been attacked by any breed of dogs that many times is because they are reacting to the FEAR they smell on you. Your fear is your killer.

I like them If you are not an Idiot and you don't try to make them attack, They are really very good natured dog's. I feel sorry for the ones that are trained to attack because they have been abused. I have them as neighbors and I rescue abused dogs, they will play nicely with my 3 dog's and the rescues get to like them too when they get halfway normal again. Watch Animal Planet, Animal Cops Detroit They are the city that the fighting Pitt bulls were first bred. they euthanize the fighters, but they adopt out lots of the normal Pitts and they make nice family dogs. So learn before you condemn.Rottwielers and German Sheppards are responsible for the most attacks in my area.

I have nothing against the breed, just the people that own them and teach them to be mean. I know several people that own them and all are very sweet natured dogs, it's the owner not the dog, any dog can be taught to be a killer, years ago it was the German Shepard, then the Doberman, then the Rottweiler and now the Pit, what's next the beagle or poodle? And by the way I've ran into some very mean Poodles.

I love them .. what I do hate is ignorance (hint, hint) . Humans kill humans on a daily basis .. do you think the human race should be banned too? Does that sound logical? I hardly think so ...

The problem with killer dogs ALWAYS stems from the owner, in how they raise them. This is what we should focus on, the real "monsters" ... the cruel, unfeeling azzholes ... such as Michael Vick.

BTW: Watch the "Dog Whisperer". This man trains unruly/vicious dogs. He uses his Pit Bull to teach the other dogs, in regards to what is ... and is not, acceptable behavior.

look, its not the dogs fault. It's the owner. I know pits who are the nicest I've ever seen, because they have been properly socialized and trained from puppy hood. I feel you and you sure have a great reason to hate I totally understand. But, what we do have to understand is to ban the owners, trainers, not the dogs.

Most dogs could be trained to kill.

I just laugh at so called dog lovers who come out and say "I love dogs, but I think all pit bulls should be put down."

how is that any better than Vick?

check up on your facts before you judge.
pit bulls were nicknamed nanny dogs during WWII. pit bulls rank higher in obedience testing than golden retrievers, according to the American Canine Temperament Association. they are listed as the 4th highest out of 122 breeds ranking higher than popular family dogs such as the laborador retriever and the golden retriever.

I worked at a vet clinic over the summer a few years ago and I had to give shots to some adult pits, and from the first few minutes of oberservation I knew I didn't need to put a muzzle on them. They're sweet when they're raised in the right environment, and I could tell their owners took good care of them and treated them with love, like any animal should be.

Pit bulls are good dogs if you raise them properly just like any other dog. If you raise them bad, then they will be bad dogs.
