Because I'd never do anything if I planned everything! Seems like something always happens to ruin plans that I try to make. If I act impulsively, it happens with no chance for failure! However, I'm talking more about fun things that don't have dire consequences. Important life decisions, for me, at least require some serious thought. Now you're making me think... I wonder how different my life would be if I acted more impulsively with those important life decisions... Good question!

It isn't always better and some impulse acting can get you into a lot of hot water. For example, impulse buying can lead to tremendous debt. Making plans and thinking things through is always better. Sometimes we need to make a quick decision, for example if a tornado is heading your way and you have no basement, you may act on a quick 'where do I go' decision that can be interpreted as an impulse althought it isn't. It is just a quick gut decision. Whenever you have an impulse to do something, you always need to stop and take a look at the situation. Impulses almost always have a negative side to them.
