My girlfriend has really bad allergies that keep her up all night. Instead of buying over-the-counter drugs like Claritin, are there other natural remedies I can use that really help? Thanks.

Get her to try Vitamin C with Quercetin. You can usually find this in a combined supplement in the health shops or you can purchase each separately and take together: 250mg Quercetin twice a day and 500mg Vitamin C twice a day should be fine. Both have natural anti-histaminic properties.

Nettle tea also has anti-histaminic properties. This may be an acquired taste though :) Alternatively you could look for nettle leaf capsules. Marshmallow root or mullein leaf capsules to help remove mucous. Eyebright to help with short term relief of allergy-related itching and/or runny eyes.

Hope this helps.
Best wishes.

My husband drinks Rooibos tea for allergies. It is a very safe, mild herb---in Africa they even use it to calm colicky infants. It won't completely alleviate symptoms at the height of allergy season but it does help significantly. It is available at most health food stores. Wal-mart even carries flavored brands. Served cold it has a pleasant taste, not unlike regular iced tea and it is also good hot as well.

My wife has been on daily year round allergy meds for over 20 yrs. We started practicing EFT and she doesn't take as much as a benedryl. It wasn't an overnight fix, it took about 30 days, but the change is really phenomenal.
