Yes. In a normal adult dropping blood oxygen levels will cause the person to awake and attempt to remedy the situation. Babies will normally awake and begin to cry if they aren't getting enough oxygen. However, very young infants or SIDS-prone babies do not have this reflex, don't wake up and subsequently suffocate.

If you are talking about babies, yes I think it is. Birth until 2 years is the danger period for SIDS I think. You should sleep your baby towards the bottom of their cot so they can't slip down under the covers. You should be able to find some good tips online.

Babies can easily suffocate under covers! There should be nothing in the crib except the clothes the baby is wearing. They should be enough to keep he/she warm.

You will not sufficate but a baby might. Just make sure that the babies head is not covered and it should be fine.
You can usea a blanket on a baby and should use a blanket, especially in the winter.

YES. Excpecially if it is a baby. This is one of the top death causes in infants. Make sure there are no pillows around the baby and that the blanket is not thick and is not by his/her face.

If you aren't able to turn your head for some reason (i.e. age of less than a couple months, or a disability or sever illness), then yes. Otherwise, no. If you are able to turn your head, your reflexes will kick in and you will turn your head, even while you are asleep.

No, because your lungs are muscles that are involuntary and when your body finds that you are not taking in air, you will wake up and remove the covers.
