Given a chance, would you work for Telstra corportation? Assume that they offered you a job and salary package to your liking? Would you go for it? Or would there be things that would keep you from doing so, given the current media attention that Telstra has been gaining in the telecommunication environment?

Telstra is not evil. It is not likely taking the contract to build gas chambers at a Nazi death camp.

Telstra runs the telecommunications infrastructure in Australia. Working there would probably give you access to knowledge and training that few other companies in Australia could offer.

But due to its monopoly position, it is likely to inneffecient, management centred with those making it to the top better to fighting each other than doing business or running telecommunications.

It would be a short-term opportunity in which I could learn a lot, but also judge for myself what the organisation is really like and decide for myself whether to stay or leave.

I would suggest changing from Telstra. From personal experience they have terrible customer service and I will never use them again! They made a mistake on our bill that ended up costing us $300. We are will Optus at the moment for homephone and broadband. And we haven't had any problems yet. Optus is also cheaper than Telstra.
