Well, the ones who lost their arms, found they couldn't paint anymore. The ones who died found they couldn't do anything anymore. But the rest of 'em just figured out a way to survive.

If you are talking about world war 2. In Germany many modern artists and their works were labeled by the Nazi party as degenerate and were taken out of museums and their publication and reproduction were banned.
