Yeah, Back To The Future is closed permanently. I'm kinda bummed, but there are some positives & negatives:
Negatives:
Back to the Future was cool! It was the only simulator for a very long time that was in a theater that large, and with 8 passenger vehicles, it was that much more realistic.
Positives: Back to the Future is a relatively old movie now, and a lot of the younger riders couldn't relate, so it probably is a good time for change. Universal has a tendency to wait too
long to change, or add attractions, and The Simpsons is a great concept, but where was it ten years ago? Kinda like Fear Factor Live... that show was cancelled before the attraction arrived.
I hope this is a good attraction, with hopefully less waiting time that Back to the Future, which was notorous for how slow the line moved along.
Universal doesn't upgrade nearly as much as Disney does, so this new attraction will be here long after the Simpsons are no longer popular, or even cancelled completely. Universal still has a Jaws and E.T. attraction, and by the time Twister, Men in Black, Terminator 2, and The Mummy came around, the movies were looooong past their popularity, so these attraction, even though they are cool, are obsolete. Shrek in 4-D is still current, and I suppose Jimmy Neutron, but let's update the Lucy tribute already. I'm going to have an open mind about The Simpsons, even though Back to the Future was one of my favorite attractions.

The one in Florida has been closed for a while, and the one in California just closed yesterday. Both are being replaced by a Simpsons ride. By the first time I rode it, it was already outdated. So I am not sorry to see it go. It was also getting very rough and was going to need some repairs. So I guess they wouldn't want to sink money into repairing a ride based on a 20-year old + movie that nobody knows anymore.

Yes it did yesterday was the last day :( I am really sad about it cuz I remember when they first opened it and it was so much fun! I went on it again a couple of weeks ago and took my 4 year old on it...she loved it and everytime she hears similar music she asks to go back and go on it again....at least I got to share the experience with her before it went away for good....I believe they are putting a simpsons ride in there...I dont think that's a good idea due to the fact that the backlot doesnt have a simpsons lot...so i dont know why they would do that...put some type of movie thats recently been shot there....anyhow...sorry

Yes it has. It will be replaced with the Simpsons ride. However, for the time BTTF was one of the best. Hopefully, the Simpsons will rival it. I love Universal!!! They are constantly changing and updating. The Mummy took over King Kong and I think that was one of the best remodels ever.

yeah, its being replaced by a simpsons ride. BTTf was an awesome ride, but it did need replacing. I went on it 2 weeks ago, and the cars wouldnt go back into the room where you first sit down in. Im gonna miss it, but the simpsons ride could be awesome and hillarious if they know what theyre doing, but if they dont it could stink

yes, it has been closed. it's such a bummer. the ride was amazing. it was high tech for the time it was made, and it was an awesome ride experience. even though i've only been to universal once, that was one of the highlights of my trip. they're replacing it with a simpson's ride. i'll definitely miss the ride, though

No.... Marty and Doc are going to take the Delorian back in time to when Matt Groening was born and switch him with another baby, thus changing his lifeline and destroying the Simpsons. Enjoy the show while you can, because soon it won't exist and we'll never know it did!!
