Should i answer it myself, or should i send my 8 year old daughter outside to check things out?

The kid is pretty spunky. I think she can take them.

Go with your daughter, holding her in front of you like a shield. Tell her you're teaching her how to answer the door at night.
Additional: Spunkyness is good. Make sure she has her dolly, she can whack them in the crotch with it if necessary.

We have a state hospital for the criminally insane without fences, people, killers, are always walking away, we have a county lock-up that is in the same issues.
I keep a 12 gage over and under, with number four goose loads, steel shot, behind the bedroom door, and a .38 spacial that I am very adept in using.
Saying all this, I can only say, it better be someone friendly.

Answer by listening inside a locked door. If the voice sounds like a child or a troubled woman, call police first, then probably let person in. If its a man just call the police, let them, help him.
Whats wrong with my answer is these days women are getting as bad as men.

Call 911. Never let your 8-year old daughter answer the door. It might be a kidnapper or burglar trying to trick you. If you are afraid to answer the door yourself, why do you think it is safer to ask your daughter to do it?

Don,t answer it unless you know the person.If it,s an emergency and someone wants to use your phone don,t open the door and call the police for them.Never send a child to answer the door in the daytime or at night.It,s too dangerous,someone could kidnap your child or push their way past her to get in to attack you-Duh!

i think you should gather the small amount of marbles that you have left rolling around in your head and roll them out like a red carpet affect for the person on the other side of your door.

go inside your bathroom with your daughter and anyone else lock the door take the phone w/ you and if he/she says let me in or im gonna do something THEN you call the police

You are a goose... but seriously this happened to me a couple of weeks ago and frightened the sh*#t out of me. Everyone says "I would have just told them to f*#k off" but it really frightened us when it actually happened.
