i have been thinking of this issue...
i got to the point that the answer is being a good Muslim..because the true Muslim doesn't get cocky and arrogant because he should be humble because he knew how great he is,there's always Allah who is greater than him...
yet,he can't be humiliated because he must keep his dignity...he's worshiping Allah and it's a privilege he should understand well....
God gave us our dignity and preferred us above all creations,no man can take this away from us.....
it's not the person only who put that line..it's the ppl around him too,the way they treat them...

Its not me who will choose when or where to draw the line, it is the conditions and experiences which i passed through.
Having one of the 4 feelings above is an advantage and the other 3 is a disadvantage.
Self confidence is the feeling that you should be having as long as you tried your best in something and whatever the consequences which may result, you must keep it high.
Sometimes when you have overfelt the confidence, it develops into ********* but differs from a person to another when does this feeling develop, some have it to soon and others never have it which is a good thing because ********* makes the person feel the perfection in that specific issue forgetting that no one could be perfect in anything whatever he did except Allah.
Low self esteem is the feeling which comes to a person who failed in some of the major experiences he wished to pass, having this feeling will drag you to the back as an inhibitor stopping all of your progress even in the things which you are good at. This will destroy the life of that person and if was to a big degree it could lead to giving up hope in the whole life so my advice is to never give up, live with what you are in and enjoy it, you cant improve it so live with it.
Humiliation is the feeling which could be caused by the opposite feelings such as *********, a cocky person when he gets served by another person will be directly humiliated which adds to the disadvantages of feeling cocky.
In conclusion, the person doesnt draw the line, but he could be a factor which sets it in the beggining because after he draws the line, it could be permenant and whatever he will do it will be never changed, so try to change yourself to the best from the beggining.
Good luck

we learn to draw the line by experience and through contact with others.
********* is rude and nor acceptable by any means. self confidence is a healthy attitude of someone who knows his/her worth and weight without beinh haughty.
humility is the attitude a religious person is required to have , bec no one should act as if he/she has it all or knows it all.
low self esteem is a sort of psychological flaw . a person thinks he/she is below all others.
we learn to draw the line between these extremes when we learn etiquette and how to behave in polite society.

To me ********* is a smart aleck, know it all attitude while self confidence is knowing what your capabilities and using them with as little fanfare as possible. Humility is believing that you are as good as but not better than anyone else while low self esteem is believing that everyone is better than you. the mid line in both is obvious.

Be humble in ALL things ! There are far too many examples of what I call " selfisms " .
If we try taking our focus off ourselves for a moment & fixing it on our creator firstly & then our fellow man , the world will be a lot the better for it !

You learn from examples.
Like studying the Bible. Jehovah and Jesus are both perfect examples of knowing they are right, but not being haughty about it.
They both show humility to the perfect degree, but have self esteem, in the manner that they know, like God knows what he requires Himself to do. Jesus knows he is able to do what God requires him to do.
This was proven in full when God sent his son to give his life for us imperfect humans, and Jesus was willing to do it.
It is proven, by God resurrecting Jesus and designating Jesus as King of God's kingdom, and Jesus being willing to be that king.
The Bible is the best teacher of being balanced, between the lines you want to draw.
