My music teacher said that not enough boys tried out for the play so she said she gave some boy parts to girls. She said for me to think about it before I say yes! aA Pro is that I sing a solo in the play ( I love singing!) but the Con is I'm a BOY! What should I do?

Don't let anything stop you from singing in a play or anywhere. If you love singing then just do it! There's is nothing "sissy" about it and think of all the girls who would be relieved to not have to sing male parts. If you are nervous about singing that to a girl............just remember.you are actually acting! It means nothing but yet it means everything to the play. If you have to.........think of someone you may admire looking at....even a movie star or singer....and let your mind go there and look at the girl but role play. You will soon get used to it. When you het older (depending upon the girl) you might even enjoy it. Also extracurricular activities go along way as far as getting into a college. They actually look at these things instead of just your grades. Keep that in mind please. I am a leader not a follower. I have been on stage and on TV and it is scary at first.......but I concentrate on someone I know instaed of a crowd full of people. In your case for this one song..your eyes will have to be on the girl or you could even appear to be looking and singing to her , by letting your eyes drift to the back of the stage in a way that no one will know except the two of you. The girl will probably be nervous too.so think about that. Many actors and professional singers have started their careers this way! Good luck and go for it! Be a leader and maybe you will "set the stage" for other guys who are afraid.

If you can pull it off and really look and act like a boy, it would really be a feather in your cap!
It reminds me of Dustin Hoffman in Tootsie and Robin Williams in Mrs. Doubtfire.

Do it, then you will prove you have many sides to your acting and singing. A girl portraying a boy can't be that simple so it'll look good on your future resume's or portfolios. Good luck!

i think you should do it. Many actors have done it before. Just look at john travolta in hairspray. If you are passionate about something you shouldnt care what anyone says. You would probably get praised for it.

I think it would be cute. Do it. But only if you feel ok with it. If it is gonna bother you that much maybe you should reconsider.
