1. Get all trash out of the house, so there is less for them to eat. You can't leave any dirty dishes in the sink or on tables. 2. Keep outdoors very clean, too. No fruit on the ground, or food trash. 3. Check for places on the outside where roaches can get in, and try to seal those. 4. Open any cupboards where you have food, and empty them one by one and try to get rid of the roaches you find. Clean them well so their is no food crumbs, and no residual oils or smells. Clean the bottom and sides of jars, no spillage near the tops on the outside, either. 5.Keep all food containers tightly closed. Roaches may be able to smell food as well as a bear, at a mile away. 6. I used Roach Motels about 8 years ago, and have not seen but three roaches inside my house since. You will probably want 2 per room where you have the roaches. Check them once a week, or two. I forgot about them, and checked about 1 month later. about 50-60 in each of the two I used, in all sizes. The roaches inside even laid egg cases, and the mini roaches hatched, trapped and died there, too.

She needs to mix boric acid with grape jelly and put it into cupboards where they come out at night. Like under the sinks and by the water heater and anyplace that is damp or wet. She needs to keep all garbage out of the house and keep the kids away from this stuff. That is what she has to do!!! Period!!!
She is a grown up isn't she? Does the cat go under the sinks, does she let the kids do what they want...doesn't she childproof the cupboards? She needs to do something. If it was there when she moved in call the landlord, it she brought them with her, it's her problem and an exterminator won't be cheap and they have to spray chemicals too. So, it's responsibility for her either way! Roaches are disease carriers and most Asthma is caused and made worse by these terrible creatures. To think that she can afford animals and not take care of this problem makes me think she is not too together. Sorry to judge it's just that people are always wanting to fix problems when they cause them and make them worse all by themselves. The boric acid does work. Just have to keep doing it and keep all wet clothes up and dry and not garbage hanging around. They come out at night an get into the food, so all the food needs to be wrapped in airtight containers or put in the fridge. They can get into any smell space...very small and they disappear when the light comes on. Good luck. Talk to her about her choices and hopefully she will try to make better ones from now on. Maybe find homes for the pets at least where they can get care and spend her money and time with her kids instead.

She can get a can of Bengal. It doesn't have to be used everywhere. she can use it behind appliances in the kitchen and behind furniture in other rooms. She should spray around all water resources like the water heater and underneath the kitchen and bathroom sink. Also the corners of the ceilings(roaches live anywhere) in every room, including the ceilings of closets. She will notice an increase in the number she sees at first because it "draws out" the critters. In days they will start to diminish and in about 2 months she won't see any. A can is about 13 dollars and she should spray every month for at least 4 months to insure they won't return.

Boric acid will work. Add dish soap to standing sink water; they like water, add little tiny diving boards. Look for access and caulk. DON'T use a bug bomb! The boric acid will not hurt people or pets and eats nasty holes in the shells of roaches and ants - and they track it back to their hang outs and share it with their bug friends who also get nasty holes in their shells. NEVER use boxes scrounged from a resturaunt or food store - never, ever!

Tell her to go to a big restaurant and talk with the cooks. They are the experts on getting rid of roaches. Good luck. BTW, roaches only hang out where there is food. No other place can they be found.

Simply go to your local Home depot and pick up insect spray. Spray everyday and if you can... wake up in the middle of the night when they are most active and spray again. Keep the house clean for there will be no reason for them to stick around and the problem should vanish within a couple weeks.

Wow. I'd be suing whoever sold me that house. For real. Roaches can reproduce asexually. They can live for seven days AFTER you chop their heads off!!
You think she's somehow gonna get rid of these? Hardly. UUUUugh

I agree - I would sue. They are almost impossible to get rid of, hence why they have been around for thousands of years..... I would find a way to pay for the exterminator, then sue the previous owners to cover the cost. Ugh..... Horrific.
