If you have integrated graphics, you can max out the shared RAM and it would still be SLOW.

If you have a graphics expansion slot (8x AGP or x16 PCIe), then a mainstream graphics card w/ 256mb ddr3 would be fine. It would beat a similar card w/ 512mb but just ddr2. Besides many games do NOT ALWAYS fully utilize 512mb.

The 2 gigs of ram aren't going to have much effect on your video system... It will make more of a difference on multitasking.. The more memory on the video card the better.. Might want to try the PCI Express Cards rather than agp. If your setting up as a game r, better get a gamer's opinion...

512mb, minimum.

That is with an add-on card, not integrated video. Much of your true question is dependant on your motherboard features (pci, agp, ddr or ddr2, etc...)

fyi - Vista will add onboard memory capacity to any aftermarket video card.

the 2 arnt realated at all , 2gb is system memory , depends what your going to use your graphics for ? at least 256mb , 512 is better .. dont waste your money on anything with 128mb
