Hi, I just started a new job where we get paid every two weeks.
The reason I left me previous employment was because money was tight and I needed to make more money.
Ok, my question is, if on my new job I get payed every two weeks, DOES that mean I have to wait a whole month to get my first paycheck? Because there has to be a waiting week on your first check, so if I get payed every two weeks does that I mean I won't get my first check until next month?
OR can I ask for a advance to pay my bills, because bills are not going to wait for the money to come in..Please answer my question..No smart remarks please..Thank You
I'm going to work for Wal-Mart D.C. making about 13/hr, which is not bad. They pay every two weeks, so I really don't want to make my bills suffer
Any suggestions

I think you need to ask your employer about when you will be getting your check.
In the meantime talk with your family telling them you just got a new job and they may be paying you funny and you might need an advance. NEVER ask for an advance from an employer, and DEFINITELY DON'T ask a new employer for an advance because usually they say no, but, even so it's not a good thing to do, and you want to remain in a good light with them.

Okay i have had two jobs in the past that paid every two weeks. One of my jobs didnt make us wait and i got my first pay after working there a full 2 weeks. The other job held back for two weeks and yes i had to wait a whole month before i was properly onto their system.
Your best bet would be to ask your employers about this. All companies are different. You CAN enquire about getting your money sooner...it wont hurt you to ask. They can only say no, but atleast you will know where you stand.
Also reguarding paying your bills...as my first job i mentioned made me wait a month before pay day i phoned the companies which i needed to pay money too and explainned my situation to them. There were very helpful and allowed me extra time. This is also worth doing okay.

As to your first question (when will you receive you check), it honestly depends on where you work. To find out a quick answer to your question, you should talk to someone in the Accounting department of your company. Depending on the size, that may be a bookkeeper or an "office person". If the company is larger, they will have an actual accounting department. Most places I had worked will pay their employees within the week. So, let's look at September. Bi-weekly pay cycles (which is what you are on) could run Monday, Sept. 3 - Sunday, Sept. 16. In that case, it would be typical for a company to then pay their employees on the following Thursday or Friday (20th or 21st). Some would hold checks until early the next week (24th or 25th) but it would be rare, these days, for a company to hold checks longer than that. So, in that case, if you started today, you could go 17 days until you receive your first paycheck because this week is a pay week for all the other employees. In that case, your check would be for 2 weeks of work. The other example is if you started work on the "bottom" week of a pay cycle. You would then get you check in about 10 days since you only had to work 1 week of the 2-week cycle. But, your first check would be for 1/2 as much as normal, since you only worked a half a week. As far as the advance question, I have worked in accounting in many places that would make advances. We generally had a run that you had to have already worked enough hours (but just not been paid those hours) to cover the advance. So, if you have worked 30 hours at $10/hr, we would "allow" you an advance of up to about $250 (taking out $50 for taxes, etc.).

Usually, you have to wait until the end of your first full pay period before being paid. For example, if the next payday is this Friday, Sept. 7th, and you started yesterday, that means you are in the middle of a 2 week pay cycle. You won't get paid this week because it takes longer than a few days to process your banking information and set up the payroll records. So, the first pay will be at the end of your 3rd week, at which time you will get paid for this week and the next 2. After that you will continue being paid every 2 weeks. What I recommend is to ask your supervisor as soon as you start. It is not something you should be afraid to ask.

If you start work in the middle of a pay cycle they will not hold your 1st check...it will just be for 1 week instead of 2 weeks. So you shouldn't have to worry about that, you only have to worry about is that 1 week enough to pay your bills. Wal-Mart does not even provide adequate health insurance to it's employees...so I would seriously doubt they will give you an advance on your pay...sorry.

Asking for an advance is one way to get you to the unemployment line .
Company's do Not like staff who cannot manage their finances and seek advances / loans from them .
(although I can't speak for W , maybe they like fronting loans)
Paydays at large companies are the same for all,
and your first check will depend on where your hiring date fell in the cycle .
If you were hired just after their payday , then it could be about 3 weeks until your check .
Chill out , because 3 weeks will not be a killer for your bills but trying to get advances can make you look like a lousy employee .

It depends on if you started in the middle of a payweek or at the end. You should ask your human resource manager to find out when you will receive your first paycheck. I am not sure if they will give you an advance especially with you being a new hire but it never hurts to ask.

Unfortunately it seems like you do have to wait two weeks. When I started my job I had to wait 3 weeks because I was in the middle of the pay period.
For example, I'm in the middle of a period. This pay period started August 26th and ends September 8th. That paycheque is for September 21st. Then between the 9th of Sept. and Sept. 22nd, that paycheque is for October 5th.
Hope this helps.

You need to ask when your first paycheck comes in. This should have been asked at the interview.
