I doubt it is because there are African-Americans who are still contributing scientifically, politically, and socially to the U.S. culture and economics..Think of all the entertainers, doctors, politicians, etc.

No. Black History, like many other histories is an on-going learning experience. Life presents to its audience the ever continual events, people that make our lives interesting. Just look into the face of a child...who knows what the next little boy or girl will do, will discover, will accomplish. History, any history, will never die as long as its audiences want to remember and learn from what it teaches us. Guard Dog

Not at all. If anything, it is increasing once again in popularity. Look at the number of African Literature classes that are popping up at universities, the number of History classes, etc... Granted, these things are never strictly concerning "black history" because of the wealth of interactions with people from around the world and how we've all interacted, but those subjects create a focus for "black" studies.

No, African American history will never die, you must look beyond the class room to find most things. I think some of the best documented black history is being made now..Condolezza Rice, Barack Obama, Colin Powell are all global players. Condi Rice was ranked as the most powerful women in the world for 3 years straight.

It's hard to believe ANY history is dead. People are still creating black history, and people are still studying it. So that doesn't make it dead in my books.

Yes, because it never really existed. Some disjointed facts and figures about obscure and little known people. Most were performers or athletes. Don't like it? Too bad! Can you defend opposition to my statement? Without insults?

I would say no. Their's still Oprah, Black themed movies (don't you dare tell me there isn't any), the hip-hop and rap craze, it's still going. Now if you mean the inspiring and civilized part, then yes.

it isn't dead just on a slow point, in this day in age there isn't really going much going on in the world, besides the Iraq conflict and there are many races in the fight, not just African Americans.
