Being a Yeoman Warder is a great honor. Like the Guards Regiments, they accept only the best soldiers for the job.

I'm not too keen on trashing nearly 1000 years of tradition, but it is not exactly like she was assigned to the SAS or SBS and is expected to be a real slither throught the swamp, jump from planes and boats, eat snakes and live off the land warrior. The Yeoman Warders are basically a Public Relations team and tour guides.

So if the lady qualifies for the assignment, good for her. And if she is a Yeoman Warder, she bloody well should wear the Yeoman Warder Uniform. If she doesn't like it, she can ask to be reassigned.

How nice of you to say that.

There is no reason why a woman cannot be a beefeater. More power to her. She is out there living her dreams while armchair quarterbacks like you can only sit there and judge.

tough one...I believe in people getting a fair go, equal opportunities and stuff, but I think tradition is important as well. It's okay I suppose but I wouldn't want the same thing done with the Household Cavalry (guards at Buckingham Palace).

I saw the picture of her - she does look like a dyke. I mean really what kind of a woman wants to do certain jobs that are traditionally for men?

Good Luck!!!

I take it that looking like a dyke is a bad thing?

Of course its a good thing. Talk about pointless gender barriers... geez!

If it's possible for her to become one and she can do the job, why not? Besides, the fact that your avatar is wearing a blindfold speaks volumes about you and your outlook on things.

humm, well its something different.
I guess in time we'll see how it turned out and if it was a good or bad idea.
But I do think they probably should have gotten her a different uniform, or at least girlified it.

It's about time, good for them. Who cares what her uniform is like? It's not like she did it for fashion.
