God you make me feel old!
Valerie Bertinelli was a TV and movie star from the 1970 and early 1980's.
She got her start on the TV show "One Day at a Time" beginning in 1975. She was one of the most popular teen stars of the time. After One Day At A Time ended its run in 1981, she made over 20 movies, mostly made for TV. A bit over 20 years ago she married rock star Eddie Vanhalen and more or less retired to be a full time mother.
Since she divorced Eddie Van Halen a few years ago, she has been trying to get back into acting. This Jenny Craig gig is the first big part she has had in a long time.
You can find her filmography and a short biography at: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000933/
FWIW, I've always been a Valerie Bertinelli fan. Not only is she cute as hell, but she is a decent actress.

OMG, I feel so old, too. She was very cute and what you'd describe as "hot" when she was a teen and young adult. Yes, she was married to Eddie Van Halen, but she got her start as a sit-com actress on, as others have said, One Day at a Time.
