Libs are egalitarianists. Someone perceived to be more powerful or richer makes the feelings of those who are though of as less to be inferior and feel bad. Therefore, a governmental (taation, regulation, other legislation) process must be utilized to make that entity or person brought back down to the level of the masses. This is social and fiscal communism, plain and simple. Their entire thought process is prefaced on feelings- either their own or that of others. Making someone else feel bad no matter what I've done, good or bad, is in their eyes reprehensible. Its no secret libs DETEST the rich. Most libs believe that person employed unscrupulous means to attain that wealth. The truth is business people who lie, cheat, steal dont make it very far, and in fact are doomed to fail.
When a lib begins the evolutionary process to become something bigger and better, they are on their way to become conservatives. Its an importnat process of self discovery, enlightenment and a belief to achieve and be successful. I have witnessed this kind of metamorphosis myself, and its beautiful. The traditional recalcitrant lib will never think this way. They expect the govt to do IT for them or punish those who did succeed.

The same for any politically bigoted subgroup of a political party or viewpoint.
Political bigotry by anyone means you hate a good portion of the country, and therefore can't learn from them.
We saw a lot of that with President Clinton. We see it now with President Bush.
We need gas and brakes no matter what direction we go.
I'm grateful for the republicans. I'm a democrat. I may disagree with specific goals when we have limited resources, but I am not an "Anti-Republican" or "Anti-Conservative". What a waste of my time THAT would be.
If we keep speaking up, use the free speech my party fought for, and know that many of us that have not abandoned our party are still fighting for free speech for all of us, including republicans. It's our best defense here at home against tyranny, including the tyranny a political parties small portion of political bigots might impose on the rest of us.

You are making a ridiculous assumption.
I am a liberal who has NEVER taken a dime from the government, and has never had a need to. I have read many of those books, thank you very much. I am successful, I live comfortably and have no need or want for more. I give generously to charity.
I am a liberal because I do not agree with waging war against countries that did us no harm so that the Halliburtons of the world can make obscene amounts of money while ignoring the real terrorists and creating more terrorists.
I am against having other people's religious values shoved down my throat, and I am willing to pay taxes so that all children can have a decent education, healthcare, and so that I can drive across bridges without them falling down.
I am a liberal because I want future generations to be able to have clean air to breathe and clean water to drink. I am a liberal because I do not want to see my sick, elderly neighbor having to choose between buying food or medicine. I am a liberal because I care about others and not just myself.
I don't hate people because they are rich. I hate people who are selfish and greedy and don't care about anyone else.
I have nothing against conservatives. Lincoln was a conservative, Teddy Roosevelt was a conservative, Eisenhower was a conservative.
People like you and the current Republican administration are not conservatives. You are fascists.

I do not hate Conservatives and Rich people but maybe they should spend a year in the shoes of a hard working middle class American trying to make ends meet, a poor person on welfare trying to make ends meet, someone who has just lost a job, someone who needs surgery but can't afford health insurance or maybe they could just read a book about having compassion for others. I am financially secure now along with many other liberals but I have been in the position where I have been trying to make ends meet and I had to make sacrifices...it is not easy.
RE:I never made any assumption about you personally. Well since you know what is like to work so hard then I would think you might have compassion for people who are in difficult situations like the ones (I presume) that you were in. I do not see a problem with helping someone out who is a hard worker but who still can not make ends meet, someone who needs surgery but has no health care or helping someone who lost their job until they can get back on their feet.

The problem for liberals is that the majority of their support comes from the "something for nothing crowd." In order to keep that support, their message must center around "putting it to the man." The poverty pimps who comprise the majority of the Democratic party would not be successful without making promises like "free health care" when the reality of it is that there is no such thing as free health care. Since those who are demanding it the most will not be paying, it will certainly appeal to them.

I'm a Democrat and I do not dislike the Republican party leaders or Republicans because they are rich. What I dislike about them is that they have a false idea stuck in their heads that EVERYONE can be rich like them if we just copy them.
Many Republicans are Christians and read the Bible. Jesus said, "The poor you will have with you always..."
That's Jesus, kind of an important guy to many Republicans, telling us all that there will always be poor people in society.
OK, so since an authority on the future tells us we will always have economic inequality in society, and always have the poor, why are the Republicans always saying that all society has to do is imitate them? It seems they are trying to dispute their Savior when they make inaccurate statements like that.
I don't dislike Republicans because they are rich----I dislike some of them because they are cold-hearted.
If I have to become cold-hearted and blind to the suffering around me to be rich like you, then no thanks!! I'd rather be poor and kind than rich and callous!

The problem with this is that I value my soul.
Republicans are big about stealing money from poor kids' schools. Maybe that works for some, but I am willing to work hard and pay my fair share of the tax burden to gurantee those kids a fair shot at success.

If both conservatives and liberals actually put their energy toward things like the constitution and sanity, we might still live in a somewhat free country.

What works for some successful people won't work for others.
You also have to consider that many sucessful people are working jobs that actually pay a living wage, while others you refer to are working for less than minimum.
It's not because of lack of effort.
And not everyone who opposes your view are poor. :|

You have a selective memory. Think about the hate that the Conservatives provided the Clinton administration, even though he left office with a balanced budget.
