Also known as the "Udjat" or the "All-Seeing Eye," the Eye of Horus is an ancient symbol associated with the occult science and used in the modern Witchcraft as an amulet for wisdom, prosperity, spiritual protection, good health, the increasing of clairvoyant powers and protection against thieves and the evil eye. In ancient Egypt, the Eye of Horus was one of the most popular and important magickal symbols and was used as a funerary amulet to guard against evil forces and for rebirth in the underworld.

I don't think there's a wrong way to put them on, but you could go for symbolism and have Ra's facing right to symbolize east (because that's where the sun rises) and Horus facing left to symbolize his victory over Set. You might want to do a little more reading, though.

The eye of Horus is supposed to represent all six senses. So they are translated to the physical senses of sight, sound, tatse, smell, hearing and also the psychic sense.
The Right eye is of the Sun, so the daytime and waking world. The left eye is of the Moon, so of the emotional and psychic world.
It is the left eye that was torn out by Seth. It was either attached again by Isis, goddess of rebirth and embalming, or Thoth the god of the magical arts, depending on which legend you read.
So the right eye heightens the senses and creativity of this world, but the left eye heightens aware of the occult and magical world. Hence it's use for protection.
The right eye protects and enhances the conscious world of the Masculine
The left eye protects the subconscius world of the Feminine.

"Those who preside over their altars are the similitude of the Eye of Ra, and the similitude of the Eye of Horus. "O Ra-Tem, thou Lord of the Great House"
Like the quote above, all through the "Book of The Dead" you will find reference to the eye of Ra or the eye of Horus. Many are said to have this symbolic eye. Horus lost the eye in a battle with set, but regained it with the help of Isis.
