Three motorcyclists hit a black bear as it crossed Interstate 95 in Florida....What is the most bizarre part of this story? A black bear in Florida? A bear crossing I-95 in Florida? A bear getting hit by a motorcycle? A bear getting hit by 3 motorcycles? Something else? I don't really see this happening again for a very long time!

that's awesome...I think that all three are so bizarre that it's a three-way tie. Yesterday a group of us almost had a similar situation- six of us had to slam on our brakes (while out on a motorcycle ride) to avoid hitting a herd of buffalo. No lie- a friggin herd of buffalo- We were in north central MN, and there was a herd of buffalo wondering aimlessly on a two lane blacktop road in the absolute middle of no-where. This is a true story, we've got pictures to prove it.

there's a lot of black bears in Florida and to see one on I 95 wouldn't be any different than seeing a skunk out there...actually there's more bears than skunks in Florida...lol But, the only bizarre thing about this story is the fact that 3 motorcyclist hit it..I do find that a little unusual...If it can happen it has happened and it will happen again.
must of been at night....the speed limit down there is 70 and everyone normally drives 80+...so not too bizarre.

Although northy's buffalo herd may be a joke, there was a case not too long ago of a motorcycle rider hitting a buffalo which had escaped from the Terry Bison Ranch just south of Cheyenne. It was on the frontage road near the ranch, and not on interstate 25 thankfully.

As to the three-way bear strike....quite unusual for three to hit the same bear. But bears are larger than they seem from a distance or in pictures, so it's very plausible.

I'm Christian. Maybe I'm the minority of Christians, but I don't do ANY of that stuff. On the other hand, I do have a great many Catholic friends that may fall deeply into that classification. The biggest reason why I chose not to follow Catholicism is the ritualism (Mass) and the idol worship (Pope), which I feel is completely contradictory to the teachings of Jesus Christ - once again this is only my personal opinion - nothing else. I enjoy the "Why do people laugh at Creationists" videos on YouTube - they're really, really thoughtful (all of them). Creationists and Scientologists seems to have alot on common; in a weird "I can't prove it, but I know it's true" kinda way. In closing, I feel the Bible is NOT a manuscript of actual, historic events, but a guideline to steer you through life. Kinda like that wise old man, who lives across the street, that's been around long enough to have seen it all - and gives REALLY good advise. Parted Seas, Burning Bushes, Virgin Mary - all metaphors, all conceptual dramatizations of things you and I have probably experienced in our own lives. Somebody had WAAAAAAY too much time on their hands.

actually, Florida is rich with wildlife. From cougars to black bears, wild pigs to raccons and everything in between. I don't se any of the story as being bizarre. Unlucky for the bear and the riders, but not bizarre.

Hey Cheesetoasto
,
The weirdest part to me was:

"Thrown from their motorcycles, all three of the injured riders were knocked in the northbound lanes of I-95. Somehow, traffic moved around them, Ward said. "

Somehow - traffic moved around them!!! Did no one think it a good idea to stop and help maybe!

Sheesh! I know you go everywhere tooled up in the States - but does that preclude people from stopping to help out a bunch of squished bikers?

Someone could maybe have performed a service and shot the bear (if needed) Surely all those fire-arms must come in useful occasionally?

hahahah! That reminded me of a guy that around here that thought he was awesome on a bike, and let EVERYONE know it. He wasn't. He laid it over one day and instead of just admitting it (everyone goes down at some point) he said a bear ran out in front of him. In the middle of town. Yeah right!!

The bizarre thing about this story? That would be the fact that you are so facinated by this story. That's bizarre. You need a life...
