you can not have more than one anti virus running at the same time. if so you can crash your system every time or at best it will run like a snail. but you can however run multible spyware & addware tools at a time.spybot search & destroy-& addaware se 2007 are 2 free tools that are good to have. can get them here= http://www.pcworld.com look in the security downloads. plus this free tool is a must have. it cleans your pc of crap that slows it down. http://www.iobit.com good luck.

NEVER install 2 antivirus in a computer.
When it comes down to Symantec, nothing is free! Besides, it is a very "bulky" software, using lots of your pc's resources to run.
AVG is a good choice. Besides being a freeware it is very light weight. You can do a lot of things without noticing any performance drop.
However, if i may suggest you to try Avast. It has a better detection rate than AVG and also is a freeware.

you should only have one antivrus working on your pc at any one time, if you have two then they will conflict with each other, so if you do put two on you will have to disable one of them, but i would advise you just to have one on your pc at a time , try these two programs they are free
antivirus and spyware programs, if you are looking for a free antivirus and spyware, well I have been using these two for the last month or so, on a trial by myself, and so far, they are as good as any, that I have tried, if not better, since installing them they have picked up any and all known viruses and spyware.
The spyware impressed me, when I installed a torrent tool bar, that was full of spyware it not only removed the spyware it removed the tool bar as well, which impressed me.
The two programs are AVAST home and SPYWARE TERMINATOR, I would recommend these two programs to protect your systems.
The first link is avast antivirus

You should never have two anti-virus programs installed at once. They will likely conflict, affect the performance of your computer, and won't be any better than just having one. If you're happy with Norton, stick with it. Otherwise *uninstall it* and install AVG.

Don't do it
You will find that Norton does not play well with other virus softwares no matter the manufacture. You will not like the results.

ok well adding a second anti virus is not a good idea due to the fact that they start competing and paying less attention to their jobs so pick one anti virus cause more is not better in this case
