It seems like the odds are against the Pirates sucking for any longer, can any psychics out there tell me what year I can get my hopes up again for my home team?

I think they can improve but they must be willing to do a few things differently if they are to succeed.

1. They have to be willing to spend some money and bring in a couple of marquee players who will stick around longer than one year
2. If they cannot afford to do this then they must improve their farm system and draft picks they get every year
3. I believe there should be a major shake up in the front office in which the purse strings are loosened and then a couple of good trades to pick up necessary prospects to beef up the order a little bit.
4. They have a decent corp of starting and relief pitching but another arm or two would not hurt.
5. Be more active in the free agent market . Build up the team according to your means .
6. Develop a winning attitude right down the line from the front office to the trainers. A good attitude is contagious and be pandemic .
7. Build up slowly and develop a 5 year plan and keep building on according to need and a little extra help in the skills position.
8. If Jim Tracy cannot turn it around by doing these improvements then it will come a time when the manager must go. Give him a genuine vote of confidence and if things don'd turn around then a new manager is in order.
9. Keep your corp hitting players happy and build around them in the 3 year period for success.

The ownership has created the team that now takes the field for the Pirates. They are soley responsible for acquiring the players that are on the team. Instead of investing in quality players, they have hoarded the money they receive in revenue sharing. They have not invested in Latin America, the Far East or anywhere else in the world. Their thinking is many years behind the rest of baseball. The Pirates will continue to languish near the bottom of the league until they get that new CEO, GM and manager that are clicking together. I'd say playoffs in 3-5 years.

We are getting rid of McClatchy after this year, he is no longer acting owner and after this year he is resigning the CEO post he has. Now let's give this "new" owner a chance. He said he is embarrassed by how the team was run basically so it is time things are going to turn around. They aren't selling off the talent, so it make take a little time as the talent comes in. This year hasn't seemed too bad, yeah they have slumps and are up and down but that is almost typical of all teams. Keep the faith that things will change with the new ownership.

You should have hope or your team every year. I started paying attention to football in 1990. The Patriots went 1-15 that year but i stuck with them and now theyre the best team in the league more often than theyre not. Hang in there, the Bucs will be good again!

Hey! My Papa liked the Pittsburgh Pirates! I remember sitting on his lap while he watched the games. That was, 1978 -or-1980, were they good then?

Sadly, this losing streak will continue for quite a long time.Management will never spend the money to have a championship quality team.Maybe the team will be sold one day, until then keep cheering.

It can be all answered in the future, when a season begins, you don't know for sure how they will do. You can always guess at what you think they will do, they might get good again, and they might not, all they really have to do is win baseball games.
