Last season all I could wonder is why Drew Weatherford was still playing because he's an interception machine. Then this season I was looking forward to because I thought maybe the coaches would try out athletic Xavier Lee but when the Clemson vs FSU game started and I saw Weatherford out there again and making terrible throws and throwing way over his receivers heads, all I could think is where the hell is Xavier Lee. I was thinking if they put him in, maybe he could spark there offense with his athleticism. Does anyone else agree with me or am I the only one who doesn't like Drew Weatherford's inconsistency?

boris tha beast....did u happen to watch the game last night???? cause from what i saw was another disappointing performance from Weatherford. FSU recruited Lee who was a highly touted athlete and a #1 prospect. To me they have basically wasted his talent and instead of seeing what he can do when put into a position of being down 21-0 they keep Weatherford in and end up still losing. To me that doesn't seem right to Lee. Its ridiculous to sign Lee and just waste his talent and keep him on the sidelines. Even if Weatherford out performed him in camp, maybe Lee is a better game time player. SO until Lee gets on the field for an entire game/season keep your mouth shut for FSU fans wanting to see what Lee could possibly do for the team.

Has anyone ever seen X play? I saw the two in highschool, and have seen them now in practice and in college for the past 3 years. Drew has always out performed X. X has a cannon for an arm and runs a 4.5 but that doesn't make him a good QB. His completion % has always been under 50% and he has a higher INT per pass ratio than Drew. Drew can't throw it 75yards but we've never had a reciever who could run a 75yd fly pattern in 6 seconds (average length of a play). That would require a 15 step drop. Weatherford is more consistent and makes better decisions, thusly every coach who has seen the 2 has opted for Drew. You "fans" or "experts" are just in love with the fact that X has a single letter nickname and is black. That doesn't make him good. He has a lower winning %, completion %, and NO reason for his cleats to touch the field. Jeff was half retarded and could tell Drew was better and now the "offensive genius" Jimbo Fischer agrees. Can all of you people who don't don't know **** about the game shut the hell up and open up your eyes. By the way, Rix could launch it 70yds as well and was actually FASTER than X (4.39 40yd), and everyone remembers how good he was right? X is just a black Rix, athletic to no end with no sense of how to play his position. Oh, but I forgot... he was white and X is black. Drew is the modern McPherson, more accuracy less athleticism (a 4.6 40 as opposed to a 4.5... slow right? check the 22yd scramble). And if you forgot about X's indescretions let me remind you of last year's standout 3 INT performances against Duke and Wake! Seriously X's lone best (or even good) game was a loss to an inferior Maryland team.

I'm a Florida State alum, and I too have been looking forward to a great season...until the 1st minute of this game! I agree, I think Xavier Lee should be a bigger part of the Seminole offense. Weatherford makes some good plays, but he makes just as many mistakes. Lee could definitely turn this game around, but I'm not sure if the coaches will go for it...

Its not just you...Drew Weatherford is a horrible Quarterback and Xavier Lee would def. give FSU the best chance to win football games.
Xavier wanted to transfer after last season because he felt he wasn't getting a fair shake but when Jimbo Fisher came in he decided to stay because he thought he would get a fair chance to win the job. The FSU coaches decided to go with Weatherford which wasn't a good decision in my opinion and every ESPN analysts seems to agree Xavier gives them the better chance to win.
There is some outside issue with him. The coaches don't like him or his attitude or he may not be 100 percent with his reads or something. I almost gaurantee its his attitude because all game Xavier was pouting on the sideline about not being in...and most of the time he wasn't anywhere near the coaches and sitting on the bench. He has every right to be ticked because Drew Weatherford isn't going to win FSU any games.
At least with Xavier Lee you can run a little bit of option and get that running game half way working, which is still the biggest weakness of the Seminoles.
Its sad because Xavier is a hell of an athlete and a hell of a QB. He won't see the field period and the only way he can transfer is if he transfers to a D-1AA School because he has already used his Redshirt status. FSU made a hell of mistake sitting this kid...if they would've started him as a Sophomore and let him progress they wouldn't be sitting on two inconsistent, unreliable, and inexperienced quarterbacks. Instead they would probably have a ACC All-Conference superstar with a inconsitent backup.
EDIT: Boris...yes I have seen Xavier play and yes I still believe that he gives FSU the best chance of winning football games. The problem is FSU made a mistake in opting to go with Weatherford as the starter in the first place and if they let Xavier progress he wouldn't be so inconsistent. Xavier has never been given a chance and when he has his leash is so short if he makes one mistake he is pulled and Weatherford is put back in.
2005: No Starts
2006: 3 Starts
vs. Virgina a 33-0 Win 12-25 186 yards TD
vs. Maryland 27-24 Loss 22-36 286 yards 2 TD 8 rushes 50 yards
vs. Wake 30-0 Loss 5-13 60 yards 2 INT's pulled for Drew who goes 4-15 52 yards 2 INT's
vs. Western Michigan
Drew goes Drews 5-10 for 34 yards; Xavier replaces him and goes 9-13 144 yards 2TD's
And despite saving that game Drew starts the next week against Florida and throws 3 Interceptions in a 21-14 loss.
Thats it. That is all the opportunity that Xavier has been given for his career at Florida State. He has come in; in mop up action and he has been put in for some option packages. But thats it. Yes he is inconsistent. Yes he hasn't had the completion percentage. But he also hasn't had the opportunity.
Lee: 123.5 Rating 89/178 50 percent for 1,351 yards 10 TDs 6 INTs (5 TD's and 2INT's in starts); 37 rushes for 120 yards 2 TD's (including sacks)
Weatherford: 111.5 Rating 470/821 57 percent 5,516 yards 31 TDs 29 INT's.
I'm sorry but Drew Weatherford doesn't impress me and I still think Xavier gives them the best chance to win. He may not have as good of completion percentage but he hasn't had the opportunity...he has faired well in starts; and he opens up your running game with options and draws and opens up the passing game by his ability to avoid a pass rush. Weatherford might run a 4.6 but in pads he runs more like a 5.0. Xavier runs a 4.5 and in pads plays like a 4.5. And Weatherford, not Xavier, has the higher Interception to touchdown ratio.

Went i heard the new Offensive Coordinator Jimbo Fisher named Drew terrible Weatherford as the QB, i said to myself, there go FSU season. I mean this guy been the starter for the last 3 years and FSU been horrible on the offense, especially the QB play, he just too in consistence with his play. I though the coaching staff should have gone with Xavier Lee, who more of a dual threat, run and pass. FSU just need a better QB in order to win and Weatherford is not the answer, that why they been losing the last 3 years.

i agree wholeheartedly! I expected xavier to come in at halftime and was sorely dissappointed when drew came back. Jimbo Fisher had a lot of success with JaMarcus Russell, pick which quarterback (Xavier Lee) is closest to JaMarcus and use him!!!!! What the hell are fsu coaches thinking?!?!?!?!?!?
Edit: Boris..................It aint got **** to do with him being black and having a single letter nickname, that was just dumb. Both he and drew were high profile QB's comin out of high school, but drew has consistently been the only one given the opportunity to show his stuff, or lack there of, and stay on the field. How can Xavier get consistent when he is not allowed to consistently start. Does drew suck? maybe, its up to who you talk to. Does Xavier suck? We really dont know because we dont get to consistently see him play. Oh and in this years garnett and gold game, both QB's did well but, check the stats, Xavier was one touchdown better and he clinched the win.
stat line:
Weatherford was 13-23 for 219 yards with a TD and two picks,
Lee went 13-26 for 163 yards with two TD's and two interceptions

It's not just you.
I think Lee may have discipline issues though. I believe he was a risk coming into FSU and had at least one incident while a FR or SO.
