I think it is ironic on how after all the mistakes and the quagmire Iraq has become, president Bush finds himself in a win-win situation. If he keeps the troops in long enough, they will be able to stabilize the situation until he gets out of office. Whoever gets elected or even someone else later on will have to pull the troops out at some point, then Bush can claim. "When I left office, things were improving in Iraq, and now you pulled the troop and look at what happened". Of course ignoring the reality that as soon as the troops are pulled they will all just kill each other anyway no matter when the troops are pulled. And if he is forced by congress to pull the troops before he is out of office, he can say, "The surge was working, and you made me pull the troops out and now look at what is happening" when it all goes to **** anyway. Since as log as you keep the troops in you don't really fail. It is impossible to prove a negative. I guess the man is no as dumb as I thought he was.

G-Man, you are right, funny how I use to be pro Bush in 2000, I also loved the first Bush, and I think he was great. Also, I wholeheartedly support the war in Afghanistan. Not enough troops there unfortunately, and I think we all no why.

Your analysis is unfortunately quite correct. Since so many people refuse to believe what a bad idea this was from the start (they were swayed by the idea themselves, so admitting to that is quite an embarrassment), they keep believing in it. It reminds me of problem gamblers. People who put in $10, $100, they then lose all the money they had with them, but take out a loan, because their luck is bound to change...
And since this is major politics, and since so many people have bet on Bush, they have a strong emotional stake in continuing to believe. And whenever the inevitable happens, and the player is irremediably bankrupt, they will blame casino security for hauling them out "just as their luck was about to turn".

Yep! President George W. Bush/Cheney and the rest of the lizard like right wingers are now sitting the stage for your presentation.
I have been suspecting this for some time now and I believe that is what is holding the Democratic congress back from doing any positive motions to bring the troops back. This is a terrible reflection on democracy and how it works.
This National Republican Administration has weakened the United States constitution, the very foundation on which the whole government is based. It's sickening how easily it was done because of the support of the unlearned Republican masses who are not benefiting at all from the legislature that has been enforced and that legislature that has been weakened through lack of enforcement and limited funding.
This Republican Administration under George W. Bush is a disgrace to the United States.
Thanks

Bush is defnately in the drivers' seat! The Dems don't dare screw with his plans, because as you say, he can say " things were improving in iraq, but congress screwed with my plans,."
If they're still there when Bush leaves office, THEY have to come up with a plan. Oh, yes, they can say "Bush really got us in here," but remember, the dems won congress back because they said they'd get us out of Iraq. So far, what have they done?

Remember , all the crap dumped on Bush, and he hasn't batted an eyelash to fight back. He isn't saying anything, but I do believe he has congress by the balls.
You know the saying, paybacks are a *****.

Thanks for at least admitting Bush is not a moron, now we can move onto some real discussion. I'll get pummeled with thumbs down for this, but I'm going to add some optimism and say not every city in Iraq is a political and logistic disaster zone. No one has to agree the war was right, but lets at least "concede" there is some good new coming out of Iraq. I just don't think its really a quagmire, and I've tried my best to jump on the bash-Bush bandwagon but I keep falling off.

It's only a win-win situation if you listen to all the shitty propaganda spouting out of everywhere.

It's definately not a win-win for Bush, because his approval rating is lower than Nixon's (actually, it's the lowest approval rating for a president /ever/). I'm actually starting to see protesters on the street like the ones you can see/saw during the Vietnam war.

So no. It's more like a way lost, down-the-drain situation.

Yah, but do you think people are stupid enough to fall for that. People will form their own opinions, no matter what he says just like you. Although yours is obviously anti-war and anti-bush.
