This was this thing on ABC about a year ago where they were asking random people where places were on a U.S. map. People didn't know where New York was. Some didn't know where Texas was either. It's the biggest freaking state on the map (Continental U.S.) for crying out loud.

A lot more people will know where Darfur is after the '24 Hours for Darfur' video screening project is launched. It's not too late to participate, by recording a 1 minute video on Darfur and forwarding it to them. They'll be screening the videos in New York on September 16. Links below:

Geography is not known by Americans. There are some great Geography quizes online. One keeps score by ones nationality and US is very low. Try buying a puzzle map of the world. There are lots of the US but not of the world. Its truly sad. Leap frog has a great globe where you can put a marker on a country and it recites the name or capital or currency there. I give it to youngsters hoping they will be interested.

Probably very few... but ALL AmeriKans think they are experts on what the country should do since AmeriKans typically don't know where any place is, but they think they know all about the country and culture.
