You can start it with a statistic about diversity. You can search google to see how many people of different ethnicities, nationalities, etc live in the place you're writing about. Or you can start with a quote, here are some ideas:

The term "diversity" can mean many things to many different people.

ie i don't know the topic of the paper so i can't write the intro.
if i were writing the paper it would be:

Does "diversity" refer to ethnic minorities? What exactly is diverse, and what does diversity mean? What are the advantages of diversity and what are the impacts if a group or organization lacks diversity? A recent example was the intel commercial where 5 black athletes were shown with a white manager towering over them. It was clearly a reflection of the group making the decision to accept the ad not having the perspective that almost every African American had when seeing the ad. How do life experiences of different people impact things like jury decisions? What other ranges of diversity might exist besides ethnic or racial diversity? When does seeking diversity for a group rise to the level of dicrimination or selecting people on factors that are really not related to the job itself? These questions play out in our courts every day. This paper will explore different facets of diversity.

Find a good quote related to diversity (just google diversity quote) and work it into your introduction. Try to find something that will stand out and make your readers interested.

A good quote to consider using is this one by Maya Angelou:
“We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color.”

You could start out by saying, "As the great poet Maya Angelou once said...." Then in the next few lines, introduce what the rest of your paper is going to be about by tying it to the quotation.

Good luck!

This was my first line for my diversity paper when I did my first practicum in education:

"Diversely, there was a great wealth of information and experience to gather in the resource room where I did my first practicum." (Just change whatever the place/time was ...)

BTW, I got an A.

It should introduce the topic/s you will be covering and give the reader a quick idea of what to expect.

If I were you, I wouldn't write at all- it's "an" introduction, not "and" introduction.
