You chose to sit around, just like you chose to start and stop drugs.
Your life would have been different had you got up and out of your house on your own. Next time you are off drugs, try volunteering in something you have even a tiny interest in. Could you coach a kid's baseball or soccer team? Could you push a wheel chair with an old man in it and listen to him tell his tales of youth? Could you organize a food drive for a food bank? Could you be a mentor to some young kid who is missing one of their parents? The world needs you to participate while you are still capable. And you will see you have more to offer than you ever thought possible. Good luck with the new you!

hey man, I'm naturally shy and self conscious too, believe me I stay alone and don't do much of anything, but I don't do drugs, never have and never plan to. Alot of what you're going through has to to with an inbalance of hormones. Drugs cause the body to become less productive. Drugs take over what the body usually does to maintain balance and once you stop it takes a long time to get that balance back, ecspecially for you since you started so long. Here's my advice, get off, stay off, and FORCE yourself to get up in the morning, get out of your house and do something. If you work fine, but after you're done working do not go home, instead loosen your tie go out and have some fun, it doesn't matter what you do just do something go somewhere, take a drive, relax. If you hang out with people be in the conversation have fun make some jokes. It will be hard at first, I can understand that I've had alot of trouble socializing and still do, but the more you do it the easier it will get. I know I just spewed out every therapists probable saying but hey, if it gets you even a little bit happier then it worked. Have fun, let loose, live long.

I have to say...If you stated at 15, it could be a bit hard to quit drugs, but its never too late. Trust me>>>Im quite a very outgoing and a bit perky person... and very positive too. I dont do drugs, and I very happy about it. All you have to do is follow the said "do what you want and say what you feel because those who mind dont matter and those who matter dont mind". You should really learn from me... dont be shy around anything or anyone. Be whoever u wanna be withouth being fake. Enjoy urself to the fullest, and trust me, ur gonna love it.
Try to also be around people who you feel confortable around but that arent bad influences. Losen and hypen up <<>>
I wish you the best of luck, and i really hope my advise helps you.

Drugs artificially produce endorphines in the brain. A person (lucky enough) to quit drugs, somtimes takes years for the brain to adjust. Meanwhile not feeling 'right'. Just realize that you were lucky enough to quit, and that your life without the drugs will steadily get better. Not like others (still hooked) who are imagining how good they feel. That`s the big LIE to theirself! Some people ACT happy to hide their real emotions. To feel really good you`ve got to understand yourself and learn to change enough to like YOU!

Ya know psychiatrists specialize in chemical imbalances. You are not bad, you just have not found the right shrink to help you. It can take gobs of years to find a psychiatrist who can give you the mixture of meds you need. Meanwhile. keep searching and get off those illegal drugs. Now, instead of concentrating on yourself, concentrate on those who need your help. Children's hospitals need volunteers. Many of us in wheelchairs could use volunteers to do things our helpers are not allowed to do. Watering our flowers, walking our dogs, grooming our pets, going to the store, and many more things are needed by seniors and disabled. Do not do this if there is any chance that you will steal from these individuals. Get help and give help.

Happiness is generic, and is applied to almost every kind of
enjoyment except that of the animal appetites. It ia a state of
well-being characterized by emotions ranging from contentment to
intense joy. These include: bliss, joy, joyous, carefree,
jubilant, exultant, cheerful, playful, amused, fun, glad, gay,
gleeful, jolly, jovial, delighted, euphoric, ecstatic, thrilled,
elated, enraptured, comfortable, harmonious, and triumphant.
Societies, religions, and individuals have various views on the
nature of happiness and how to pursue it.
Only saint-like persons, who feel that they are no longer
interested in the external world, think that happiness is within.
For many persons, nothing can make them happy. Our minds are as
different as our finger prints - no two are alike. Listening to
loud music makes one happy and makes another unhappy. Hence,
there can be no single definition for happiness. It is probably
impossible to objectively define happiness as humans know and
understand it, as internal experiences are subjective by nature.
Because of this, explaining happiness as experienced by one
individual is as pointless as trying to define the color green
such that a completely color blind person could understand the
experience of seeing green.
As a state and a subject, it has been pursued and commented on
extensively throughout world history.
"Call no man happy till he is dead." - Aeschylus
"Happiness is a positive cash flow." - Fred Adler
"Many persons have a wrong idea of what constitutes true
happiness. It is not attained through self-gratification but
through fidelity to a worthy purpose." - Joseph Addison
"True happiness arises, in the first place, from the enjoyment of
one's self, and in the next, from the friendship and conversation
of a few select companions." - Joseph Addison
Happiness is often associated with the presence of favourable
circumstances such as a supportive family life, a loving marriage,
and economic stability. Kali Yuga, the age of darkness, is the
time when these favourables are difficult to find.
Unfavorable circumstances - such as abusive relationships,
accidents, loss of employment, and conflicts - diminish the
amount of happiness a person experiences. In all nations, factors
such as hunger, disease, crime, corruption, and warfare can
decrease happiness. However, according to several ancient and
modern thinkers, happiness is influenced by the attitude and
perspective taken on such circumstances.
From the observation that fish must become happy by swimming, and
birds must become happy by flying. Aristotle points to the unique
abilities of man as the route to happiness. Of all the animals
only man can sit and contemplate reality. Of all the animals only
man can develop social relations to the political level. Thus the
contemplative life of a monk or professor, or the political life
of a military commander or politician will be the happiest
according to their own psyche.
The following is the self-reported positive affect (i.e. positive
emotion) during the day by 909 employed women in USA:
Activities and their positive effect index:
Intimate relations 5.10
Socializing 4.59
Relaxing 4.42
Pray/Worship/Meditate 4.35
Eating 4.34
Exercising 4.31

Napping 3.87
Taking care of
my children 3.86

Internet 3.81
Housework 3.73
Working 3.62
Commuting 3.45
Interaction with partners:

w/ children 4.04
w/ clients/customers 3.79
w/ co-workers 3.76
w/ boss 3.52
alone 3.41
Further, happiness is not entirely psychological in nature - it
has got a biological basis too. The neurotransmitter dopamine is
involved in desire and seems often related to pleasure. Pleasure
can be induced artificially with drugs. Use of drugs is not some
thing new, it has been used by many including Sanyasis since
millenia.

maybe you need to find something else to become addicted too. i know that sounds weird. drugs are easy because you know the affect and apparently you like the affect. for example...when you start running...it is the hardest thing in the world. so when you try something new...to become less lame...it will be the hardest thing in the world. but eventually youre running a mile and then two... what to you really want to do? and get addicted to that. (try...skiing this winter...im so glad winters coming.)

getting out and doing stuff, anything, even if you dont feel like it will help. also, 30 min of exercising is like taking an anti-depressant. look into what you are eating as well... are you getting all the nutrition you need? are you eating too much 'junk'... your daily diet is important especially the older you get. and stay away from miserable people, remember misery loves company and itll bring you down fast. good luck to you... everything is going to work out for you!
