i'm trying to do research on opening businesses and what not. within the next ten years, i'd like to open my own petshotel. i plan on attending business college. what degree should i get? what should i expect? i know it can't be as peachy as it sounds. what are some of the hurtles im going to have to jump?

A marketing background would be great. Those are two or four year courses and it's a 'degree' as well. I took the two year associate degree when I was in school and it was nearly all common sense stuff.

Any management classes would be good. You can also contact your local SBA or SCORE to find mentors there, talk with people who are in similar businesses, and get as much information online as you can find. Don't forget to talk to people who have doggie day cares, kennels, the local humane society, vets who board pets, and people who do in-house pet sitting.

It shouldn't take you ten years to get there, but do this at your own pace.
